Brave to come forward, but stupid. When Americans go back to watching "Ow, My Balls!" next week, he'll get snatched up for several years of solitary confinement until his "speedy" trial can be arranged.
Re: SO? You pirates claim nothing wrong with that!
"He was just "sharing". -- AND IF there's nothing wrong with downloading files from Bittorrent, what the HELL is your point?"
Correct. Nothing wrong with him sharing.
I think (and I'm just spit-balling here) the problem people have with his actions begin after he starts suing people for downloading the very thing he was uploading. Surely, you're not dense enough to miss the distinction, are you?
Clearly, from the lack of any reasoned arguments offered and the presence of several ad hominems, you have a superior mind and education, not to mention a desire to engage in open, honest debate.
My point was that whether one agrees or disagrees with him, they should at least present his opinions truthfully and correctly before criticizing.

The income tax wasn't created until 1913, and even then it only applied to "the rich". The federal government received revenue through other means prior to that.
reducing waste (including insane military spending and corporate boondoggles) would be much simpler
That's included in "original size and enumerated powers". (And I actually disagree with him on that point; one has to eradicate a cancer to save the host, not simply shrink it.)
(A) Is for lower taxes for everyone, not just the rich. In fact, he believes the income tax rate should be 0%.
(B) Believes the federal government should be shrunk down to it's original size and enumerated powers (which would fix the debt problem).
(C) Is the person speaking out the most about the fact that a private cartel of banks manipulates our currency for the benefit of the wealthy, politically-connected class.
You might still disagree with the above (and I'm sure you do), but at least be honest about the positions he holds.
Listen, I like Ron Paul a lot (I voted for him twice!), but really, this was a completely ridiculous lawsuit, and I'm glad to see it got slapped down like it deserved. What was he thinking?
* Copyright holders have many legal rights.
* This does not imply that every legal right they have is related to copyright.
* Previously, they had a legal right to prevent me from modifying my own property, even in situations where no copyright violation occurred.
* If this legislation passes, they will no longer have that right.
* The removal of that specific legal right has nothing to do with their legal copyrights, which are still in full force.
To truly be successful, Bitcoin has to be able to route around attempted government interference. Things like this will not stop, as entrenched interests continue to kick and scream themselves into irrelevancy.
I think it will ultimately succeed, but it's going to be a wild ride in the mean time.
Re: Re: Re: Bitcoin is essentially a pyramid scheme.
Bitcoin is a protocol, not a program, and as such is completely transparent to anyone who cares to look. Even the reference implementation of a client using the protocol (Bitcoin-Qt) is open source and available to anyone to peruse.
If it's up to the government to determine for themselves what the correct "balance" is between their power and our rights, then why do we even have a constitution?
It's funny; the point is made all the time that getting someone to pay you for a good (scarce or not) instead of a competitor isn't the same thing as "stealing" that competitor's "potential profits", and yet here that exact argument is being made by the haters.

No he's not, because the money coming into his project doesn't belong to those other indie projects, you entitled douchebags. Keep your whiny little paws off of it and shut your mouths.
