Yeah, it's definitely a long-term game. I suppose that means that if you don't catch lightning though, you'll have a longer tail.
I'm kinda already doing the conversation game on Twitter, but I've been finding my words alone don't generate much interest. Instead I've found some initial success making action figures of peoples' Minecraft avatars and I have a book up for free called "Tales from the Creature Keeper: Survival Critters". I wrote it as a stand-alone side story to its parent episodic novel and you can download it for no cost whatsoever on Smashwords.
Kinda off-topic but... how did Hugh Howey become such a great author in the first place? I've heard him preach about word of mouth, which is all well and good, but research seems to indicate that he did absolutely nothing to get that word of mouth going in the first place. He basically put his book up on Amazon, forgot about it, then came back after a few months and found a thousand people or so had accidentally stumbled upon it. He got lucky, so what should other authors that can't rely on luck do?
"It's the law" is a pretty flimsy rationale these days, FYI. There are a lot of bad laws that are holding back progress in a number of areas and widening the gap between the upper and lower class. Aereo would have been healthy for the economy if it has been allowed to continue operating; it would have lit a fire under the behinds of traditional cable stations that aren't interested in providing good service to their customers.
In a way, it's a matter of perspective. Criminals use loopholes to exploit the law. Visionaries challenge the law to achieve greater things. They're both basically the same thing, but I think it's safe to call Aereo a visionary since they were seeking to bring better service to everyone instead of hoarding something for themselves.
That's a really narrow view you have there. I hope that people continue to see wider and farther than you.
What good has copyright done us by now anyway? Seriously, people just use it to draw battle lines and go to war with each other instead of living in peace and harmony. It's done far more harm than good by now, which is why more and more people are becoming eager to throw out the baby with the bathwater. In theory copyright is still useful, but the proof has long been lost and many are now wondering if it ever even existed in the first place. Copyright infringement being illegal just continues to make less and less sense, and people like you only sabotage your own case by acting like religious zealots about it.
It's great to see a breakthrough on drug-resistant bacteria, but it's not gonna be a sure thing unless it's treated as a stopgap measure. To really beat this problem, we need to mitigate our reliance on antibiotics. Bacteria are practically designed to evolve, so anything we relentlessly pelt them with they're eventually going to adapt and become immune to, and then we'll be right back where we started.
After all that's happened so far, I hope the White House understands that if the TPP isn't the greatest contribution to high art and the cure for at least one kind of cancer then every single United States citizen is going to saw its bollocks off.
Part of me is glad to see this, but another part of me squints and goes, "Esports are being officially recognized now? Aren't real sports bad enough?" I mean, look at all the controversy surrounding the world cup this year. I know that's kind of an extreme example as even the NFL has a long ways to go before it's as bad as FIFA, but I do hope that esports don't end up shaking off their negative stigmas just to acquire new ones.
Besides, I always thought one of the reasons esports are compelling is because they're nothing like regular sports, so this progression seems to resonate with the fallacy that video games should be more like movies. I wish only the best for the players involved, but I'm not so bright and optimistic about where this may be ultimately going.
Endermen are 3 blocks high, so they can't fit into any 2-block high space. I think you can also build a room that's 3 blocks tall, then pave over it with slabs, which will give you a smidgen of headroom and also prevent any mob from spawning in there.
Also remember that Endermen take damage from plain old water and will teleport away whenever they touch it.
The first time I erected a perimeter of cats, I taunted a Creeper just to show off how well it worked. Sure enough, the Creeper fled. And it fled inside my house, because I had left the front door open.
I certainly am never going to wear lucid dreaming headgear as a replacement for shows and games unless I can alt-tab out of it as needed. It's not like it would make the experience more immersive anyway; people have been using the power of imagination to totally immerse themselves in the worlds of others for centuries.
Yeah, I pondered making the distinction, but brevity is the soul of wit and a lot of copyright abuses you also see in trademark infringement cases, as demonstrated here.
You're missing the point. The point is that the world is not overrun with Abu Sayyaf Groups, so there's no point in panicking and restricting basic freedoms just because people like them exist. In fact, if the country wasn't panicking, we'd probably be able to deal with terrorist groups like that more effectively and have the respect of the world again on top of that.
I think the UN declared it to be a human rights violation. There's really nothing that can be done to forcefully stop online file sharing. As cliched as it sounds, only love and peace will prevail in this battle.
