Re: We're Living In the Most Creative Time In History
It takes very little creativity to take those existing creations and refine them a bit.
bzzzt! wrong
it actually takes MORE creativity than the initial surge to refine an existing creation
it's like the pilot episode of a show, all you need is some details, a couple of ideas and you're set, it takes MUCH more effort and thought to actually continue it as a series, especially over a long period of time
i just find it both curious and silly that there are so many people willing to support a system (copyright/IP) that require degrading and discrediting an important stable of progress (remixing&refinement) to support their cause, it shows just how much they take the world for granted aswell as their bloated sense of entitlement
ps. just mixing together stuff from known content doesn't count as "other dimensional" content, it needs to be fully 100% original never before seen to count
there you go again. Trying to redifine the world in your own image, because you cannot agree with it.
no u
the "culture" seems to think that taking someone else's finished product is an okay place to start.
hey if you draw flowers you are taking nature's product as a place to start, ditto for mountains/trees/water/animals/anything else in nature, don't draw from nature "It's a derivative, self-defeating way to do anything." you said so yourself
they want to be handed a finished product that they can make a slight change to, and call their own.
yup so i don't want to see you drawing anything from nature, or this planet, or galaxy, those are all finished products, when you make variations on them you are taking that product and changing it alittle, be original, dumbass, only draw stuff from other dimensions
oh wait, you can't, cause *gasp* you don't even know what that looks like you actually need a finished product to learn from, imagine that!
If I create something, I own it, and I alone have the right to decide who gets to use it for money, for free, however I choose. Nobody else has that right until I give it up.
nope, sorry, if you don't want me to rip it and shove it some youtube video or game mod, cause i can and probably will, DON'T upload it
it's really that simple, want control? only share between trusted friends/family. or don't and STFU about people using it
forgot to mention, i'll probably end up buying Ralph's films & Ducktales episodes, but ATM some of the movies aren't on DVD yet & i don't think they have all of the DT episodes on DVD yet aswell
so whoever says that because i find this stuff for free i don't pay is full of it
I don't watch television. I watch movies through the internet.
me too, i also watch shows too
they don't air ducktales anymore (AFAIK), for whatever idiotic reason, but guess what i found in a few keystrokes on youtube?
best of all it was every single episode (+ the movie) with NO COMMERCIALS!!
i was also able to discover the films of Ralph Bakshi, (maker of Fritz the Cat/Wizards/Fire&Ice/Heavy Traffic/American Pop .etc) on youtube, all for free with no commercials, i would have NEVER known about this guy if it was for the usual distribution methods
never forget all of the hours and hours of free entertainment via youtube poops & let's play game commentaries
The vast majority of the "culture" today isn't created in a vacuum. Culture is a result of the universe and everything and a feedback mechanism, but not a source in and of itself. Take away the universe and everything and the art world would be pretty empty.
The vast majority of "memes" in culture are take offs on things that came from the universe and everything. You are not the driver, you are just the noisy passenger to this point.
It won't change, that's the way it was, is, and always will be.
If I fail, so be it, but I would like to control my own content and not some recording label/movie studio that won't even tell me how it computes the ad revenue.

when did this happen? aside, from pro-copyright "omg protection!" "omg pirates!" "omg originality!" i haven't seen anything that supports this

you're the confused one, anyone with a shred of creativity can take both the old and repeated and work wonders
that's what creativity is all about, making new from old, used up content

and the only reason they have any sort of power is because enough people pander/pandered to their apeshit tantrum tactics
if more people where like "FUCK YOU" when these people cry about permission this permission that ownership blabla they'd get the message real quick
what these people need is someone to put them in their place, they've gotten way out of whack
everyday i find myself being less and less rare of this opinion, and that alone gives me the strength to push on
