Talking of food supplies (and indeed other resources), a significant part of the problem is that we, in the developed world, consume far more than we need. The world has plenty of resources for the population but we need to change our lifestyles to consume less. I honestly can't see that happening, though.
Typical politician, shifting blame. I would be willing to bet that there is nothing happening in these agencies that does not go through the executive branch.
That's not unique to the US. The problem is the mainstream media, they focus so hard on what a piece of legislation is intended to do and ignore what it will actually do. With unbalanced coverage in mainstream media, what chance does the population have?
From what I have seen, it takes media outlets on the fringes to give us a truly balanced approach.
We have said it a million times but it bears repeating. Blank media levies are bullshit. They punish those who do not pirate by making them have to pay more for HDs, SD cards etc; and they give those who do pirate the justification to go on pirating. In fact, I do not pirate but I would take a blank media levy as license to start.
If you are going to be treated like a criminal, you may as well be one.
I know, with the exception of the Guardian, the UK media has been truly pathetic on this issue. The less said about the puppet BBC, the better. The same BBC, incidentally, who are currently pushing the pro military intervention in Syria propaganda. What the hell to I pay my license fee for?

These morons will never learn that these tactics are utterly worthless if the goal is to stop piracy.
Still, if it speeds up the death of these dinosaur organisations, it can't be all bad.
