That thing were webpages went black to stop other stupid laws, but focused on the IP's for government.
They can't see the trees for the forest, so sometimes you need to serve them exactly what will happen if they get their way.
Instead of trying to 'ZOMG DO SOMETHING!!!' about madeup problems by passing the buck, how about they attempt to do something correctly & well thought out?

When you are still clinging to your ancient business model & all of the advertising tricks & paywalls didn't pan out... Just try to kill the internet... that will TOTES make people come back to print, & we'll totes forgive you for doing it & believe anything you report now since you pinky swore to stop lying so you could be relevant again.
That Anonymous Coward (profile), 13 Aug 2019 @ 5:50am
Someone needs to make the law makers explain exactly how this is to be accomplished.
Just because they saw it on tv or in a movie doesn't mean its possible today.
They claim it is so easy, so how about they show us how easy it is.

Its so wonderful when they screw themselves....
They were so bent on getting every cent from sampling they could, but they never considered if you turn a few seconds of a song into something that gets you paid well that they'd use it against themselves.
That Anonymous Coward (profile), 9 Aug 2019 @ 3:53am
Well they watched all the money the top brass were earning allowing the NSA to deploy malware & compromise the network, so why not get your own side hustle?
Oh noes they unlocked phones!!!
Seems a bit less of a problem then sim swapping people to steal, or selling location data to anyone with the cash...
But then the Government is here to protect our corporate overlords while pretending they protect us.
That Anonymous Coward (profile), 9 Aug 2019 @ 3:01am

There was another stupid company found to have their data accessible in the last day or so. Its only medical information so they ignored the researcher who tried to inform them 'the right way'. Then he went public, they the claimed it was hacking, then claimed it was test info, then claimed ok it was only the info of some friends of ours.... The data was still online as they were making these statements.
The media jump on the evil superhacker narrative, because thats what they do. It is impossible to find any media willing to pillory a company for horrific practices.
If only we could get an executive order fixing actual problems instead of trying to fight the 'zomg conservative bias' delusion.

Re: You are pretending it's about content moderation
Its so cute, I didn't even see the hucksters lips moving as you just repeated what they told you to believe.
This story had not a single fscking thing to do with conservatives and liberals, but do not allow that to stop you from screaming how your rights are being trampled because a private company got tired of you sending messages to everyone telling them mom said you were cute.
Conservatives aren't being censored, they are behaving badly & being shown the door. If I came into your house and started explaining in graphic detail how teh homosex is the bestest thing EVAH, you'd totally be within your rights to tell me to GTFO.
Get your followers to send enough messages to people you dislike suggesting they shoudl be killed, raped, worse... its not censorship its them politely telling you to GTFO.
If you can't talk like a grownup without screaming ZOMG CENSORSHIP!!!!!! (Because Ted Cruz couldn't figure out how to find a single tweet from anyone who liked him) You get tiresome & then asked to leave the party.
Now if you were able to present the most mythical thing, which is evidence that stands up outside the hall of mirrors that are your mind we might listen, but Alex Jones was screaming he was being censored from his social media accounts before the axe fell on someone who helped encourage death threats to grieving families. (But then you are sure they are all crisis actors & it never happened because someone told you so.)
But please explain how its censoring conservatives, show your work on a separate website with links & evidence and not just the rantings of someone who has been huffing glue and posting as Q.

I forget who, I want to say Sarah Silverman, was getting tons of hate from some idiot on Twitter. Rather than rip his head off, she found out he was in pain & had problems. She helped him get assistance & treated him like a person.
Sometimes trying to get noticed, people do stupid things.
What mom taught you was true, any attention even bad is better than no attention.
I chat with all sorts of people on the Twitters, I follow people (and they follow me) who don't share my ideas/views/whatever but we have had intelligent conversations on many topics. We're smart enough to know that some of the live wire topics are pointless to bring up, they have their views I have mine. I respect that they can have their views, they respect I can have mine and neither one of us demands the other conform to the others or else.
Much of whats happening today is the belief that everyone needs to be the same at any costs & if they don't agree they are evil and should be destroyed. There is only one right way to see things and we'll unleash hell to get there.
Agreeing to disagree doesn't seem to work much anymore.

Because a thin skinned troll showed up and said so?
At least take the time to register an account if you want to play along.
Just because some shitty internet lolyer told you it was so, doesn't make it so. Just look at the facts above, that lolyer managed to put his client on the hook to pay for the lawyers for the guys they sued.
And then the 'imaginary' client shows up claiming that the facts, taken from the court documents, are false & they should have spoken to him for the "real" story...
Pity it seems his lolyer has mislead him about the case, how it is going, and how he'll end up having to auction off his copyrights to pay the debts.
Please come after me.... I've been so lonely since Prenda went to jail.
