anyone who does not yet by now know that **any sexually explicit picture of someone under 18 is illegal **
You do know that this was 7 years ago... before most of the prosecutions and misuse of our judicial system to go after people doing non-crimes had occurred.
Now if only he had a time machine, he could go back and stop himself from taking a picture that he probably didn't think would be a problem 7 years later.
You know if doing stupid things were illegal, this statement should probably get you about 3 years.
Re: In this one piece are TWO zombie "accounts" with SIX YEAR GAPS!
I knew you'd make a comment about me once you got started. Hmm... what if I told you one set of comments is on my laptop and another on my phone. I sign all of my writing, I just don't always sign in. But I'll never be able to disprove your theory so whatevs.
The fun thing about humans is we like to see patterns even when there are none. And those who see patterns where they think they are nefarious and sneaky turn them into conspiracies. You are a conspiracist of the most inane kind.
Call me a little daft or even a bit uninformed, but please explain to me your statement of "The data harvesting free-for-all that the big players depend on is in flagrant violation of basic human rights principles."
I'm just not sure what you mean because that is a very bold statement but you don't explain it or back it up in any way.
This is possibly the best analogy I've seen in this discussion.
He's supplementing something already paid for once and containing a legal license so it gets reused instead of recycled/trashed by providing the "supposedly free" reinstall CD portion of the equation that many non-technical people can't or won't do. The biggest thing he tried to do, having it made in China, was use mass generation techniques to reduce costs.
No, it's more like saying 'Go Fuck Yourself' but with the requirement that the receiver actually understands the simple cause and effect of a stated action.
In the upper right hand corner there is a search box. Search for 'TripMN'. I'll wait.
If you just did that, you will see that my posting history is almost continuous every few weeks over the last 3 years... its just that I used the same name but wasn't signed in for a whole bunch of it.
You can put down the tin foil buddy. I'm just a regular software developer who follows technical blogs because its useful in my line of work.
I haven't read the article and I don't have anything to add (yet), I just wanted to comment early to see if that person who keeps following me around and calling me out on being an astro-turf account comes out of the woodwork again.
It's like having only one or two restaurants allowed in a city and no other sources of food. People are going to eat there no matter how bad the prices, food, or service are... but the writer wants us to be happy that we don't have to bring our own tables and chairs to the restaurant.
So does her SO work for Big Cable or did they just make a generous donation to her bank account?
Re: Re: Re: Re: Oh, MISSED "TripMN" or "Trip W" as began, now
Only because I'm not always signed in. The cookie goes stale and auto-signin stops working... and I'm too lazy to re-login.
Of course if you go look for TripMN (not logged in to my user) you will find out I have a lot more comments where I just type in my name instead of signing in... but as I said, I'm a tad bit lazy.
This is the epitome of insecure "security". If people working for the government don't think people can count to the next number, they are dumber than advertised. The least they could have done is used a pseudo-random hash value instead of an incremented numeric id (add some randomness to the values)... but then again the people doing this possibly don't understand that putting files on a web-server means the server will serve them even if they aren't redacted.
This computer stuff isn't that hard if people stop thinking its magic and anyone who does something they don't want is a hacker.
That's not how it usually works in practice. Have to write it all yourself usually means more vulnerabilities because less eyes on the code/libraries, fewer reports of errors, and no large movement for fixing deficiencies once caught. The fact that everyone is working together on security of libraries means there are fewer security holes. Having Alice the Jr. Dev implement a one-off version of security with all of the errors a junior dev often does will make things worse, not better... and there aren't enough good senior engineers to go around.
