Regulatory capture at its finest.
If they spent half as much on improving things as they have finding loopholes to avoid competing we'd have GB to the home.
Also Alexi, you arr still young. There will be more girls in your life, you don't have a limited window to find "the one".
Also your girl in NZ is most likely a man.
I am a sociopath, so there is nothing wrong with dating multiple people as long as you are honest. If you are going to be exclusive with that person, be exclusive.
As Johnny Depp is alleged to have said, if you find yourself in love with 2 people, pick the 2nd one because you were never that deeply in love with the first one.

Re:
They have tests to keep the healthy apples out.
Occasionally a good one gets in there & tries to save the barrel.
The blue wall closes in, send them into danger without backup, mistreat them, and generally behave in ways toward them like they are the problem.
Protecting the image at the cost of destroying the image & for some reason no one seems to be able to convince politicians that this is bad & we'll support them even without getting good soundbites from FOP.
The super simple answer is most people don't care until its their kid executed during a botched raid...
(Someone should do a data dive & answer the question I already know in my head... most no knock warrants are for POC because Black people have super powers.)
They keep the public divided pretending that "Black Lives Matter" is a demand for special treatment not an outcry that murdering someone & no one held responsible isn't acceptable.
They manage to release every bad thing the victim did in life within minutes of killing them to make it acceptable because they were bad people... but we can't see use of force complaints against the officers with the same speed or if ever.
People worry that without these cops, they might be attacked by roving gangs of superpredators, because the lies have mindshare, & there is always a tidbit that makes it okay that they murdered someone.
That chart showing you are more likely to die at the hands of a cop than a terrorist goes here.
Yet we can't find any money to protect citizens from serious threats that are much more likely.

"is tantamount to asking them to commit perjury"
Unlike allowing them to testify which is perjury.
I'm sorry it makes you all unhappy but you've used this junk science to put people away rather than actual investigation to support the cases so you sort of deserve to have all of the cases reviewed & paying out a lot of money for people serving time over bite marks & other questionable bullshit you made sound like cutting edge perfect technology.
Protecting their image leads them to lie about "science" undermining the image they are trying to protect.
And still can't figure out why people have growing concerns that the system is not fair or just.

Ah the Trump Defense.
I did nothing wrong and even if I did, it was your fault.
I wonder if they have a conviction integrity office, given she was willing to lie to grand jury to trump up more charges it is safe to assume she has lied before to get her way.
How do all of these bad apples keep getting into the barrels?!
Its almost like someone is picking the worst fruit on purpose.

Simple solutions...
Make getting robocalls opt in.
Do not offer anyone special treatment, if they are so beloved or needed it not hard to send a postcard saying return this postcard to be added to our call list.
They owe a bill, sure. 1 call a day, week, fortnight whatever.
Double the penalties for continuing to call after being told not to.
Maybe force the telcos (at least for POTS lines) to cough up a star code that once you get a scam call you can hang up, dial *## and it flags that call as spam.
Then there is a record & its not a convoluted process.
Gee this gateway has gotten 300 complaints in the last 5 minutes, maybe we should stop their traffic or pay really large fines.
That and just on principle they should fine Dish a couple million for doing the same scammy things they've been doing for years trying to sell their product to people on the do not call list pretending that a remote connection to att at some point means they can call you.

Funny how those who care so much about their image do the worst possible things trying to "protect" it ^ end up being much worse than we originally had thought.
Now if only humans could get a clue & understand that this is never an isolated incident or a few bad apples, that the very core of these things they hold in esteem are corrupt and rotten & they should be offered no quarter when they do not toe the very clear line.
But instead we get people screaming the 'defund the police' is bad... I dunno paying for an FOIA office that exists only to hide information that might make the PC or department look bad seems like something we shouldn't be funding anymore.

Mike makes $0 from Google...
How much are the various assbags of society paying this piece of shit to do their bidding?
Perhaps he should explain why he is unable/unwilling to answer any of the claims that hes pushing a shitty damaging bill and instead just sticks his fingers in his ears yelling "you're a lobbyist shill".
I mean its not like we are voters & citizens that are going to be fucked over by him tripling down on trying to screw up the internet even more than the last time he pulled this stunt, ignored those who warned him what would happen, called them names & low and behold his shitty law made things worse.
Senator... why are you such a shitbag?
Now he'll bitch and complain that I used mean words, but he'll still not be able to answer basic concerns about his bill.
How much money did it take to sell us all out Senator, because no bill is pushed unless someone pays you to do it for them.

Re:
One would think that the company should acquire an investment that holds the money it would cost to have the implants removed if it all goes to hell.
Some people are already stuck with disabled implants but can't afford removal.
In the linked story one of the people using this needed an MRI to check for brain cancer... the only information was to contact the company to find out if it was MRI safe... pity there isn't anyone there to answer those questions so getting the detailed test is off the table and a lesser scan has to be used that might not show everything.
That Anonymous Coward (profile), 17 Feb 2022 @ 8:24am
Re: Horrible, but begs the question.
There is a processing unit that takes the input from the camera & translates it to the input required for the implant and then transmits that signal to the implant.
The "vision" supplied originally was just a few points of 'light'
The first unit was only 16 electrodes, the 2nd a 60 pixel array.
There were planned upgrades to the VPU to make it 'see' more, but that vanished about the time people discovered the company was done from outside sources rather than the company responsible for putting implants in their heads.
This was early tech research so they hadn't moved towards making it a small easy convenient thing yet. They had started working on a different implant but that seems stalled as the company that acquired and mothballed everything is more interested in their implantable drug delivery system.

"the AO wouldn't make as much money off court data"
Sounds like someone needs an audit & punishment for ignoring what the law says.
But I guess this just makes it crystal clear they don't want us to see the documents we pay to generate that show courts ignoring our rights & giving a pass to murder because no one ever explained it in the right terms to tell the cop shooting unarmed people is bad.
Tell me the justice system isn't corrupt, then explain PACER & where all that money went instead of making the law more available to citizens.
