When they find out someone forgot to pay off the local/state lawmakers to prevent the city from building something without their permission. /s or is it?
ALL of them, Wheeler included. i would've called out the two wafflers for what they are. Twatwaffles. This country is in trouble. The media runs the place. Nobody thinks for themselves or cares about the consumer anymore. I'll stick with Kodi. Shame the cable ISP we have implemented caps recently though. I'm so ready for the FCC, or SOMEONE to do something about the cap bs. I won't hold my breath though. I'd be dead before something positive actually got done probably.
How many Comcast "subscribers" on their TV rolls are there because of the lower price and NOT the TV part of it. How may don't even have a TV hooked to their cable, but take the lower price for Internet and use Netflix or another option? THAT would be a great story to find information for, but they don't keep track of that. They only harp on their numbers going "up" but in fact they're probably going down on total views.
Beauty about Kodi, no subscription fees. You can watch Plex through it and as you said Netflix is a bit dodgy at times. I also use streaming sites for my sports, rather than Kodi a lot as I find there's a good lag between the plugins and not all links work in Kodi, but they typically do on the streaming sites.
Haven't really used Plex to be honest. I like the flexibility of Kodi. It takes a bit to learn, but you can find almost anything on there. Older shows and movies. Live sports, regardless of location.
As for them catching on? There are a lot of sites they'd have to go after. Have fun playing whack-a-mole. It's going to be a constant battle, but honestly the end-user doesn't have to do too much in Kodi to find the shows. The current ones are out there in droves. The older ones may take a bit of hunting, but the majority of those are out there as well.
Kodi for the win. We dumped Dish several years ago now. I don't even remember. I say this in every article about cord cutting....Kodi is what we use. We do have Netflix for a couple of other TV's, but we have a small PC setup in the living room with a 500GB hard drive that runs Kodi or Netflix if we choose. With Kodi, I can watch anything I want, we'll be starting up the Fall shows in the next few weeks. Sure, we don't watch them live but who has time for that? We can watch what we want, when we want without worrying about missing a show. All we pay is for our cable internet, which the slimy bastards finally starting using a 500GB/month cap, but we can go up to 1TB for about $10 more. I'm ready for the FCC to come down hard on the cap bs.
We're saving around $100/month at least without Dish being in the house. I think our monthly bill was around $120. Plus Internet, plus Netflix.
Kodi/XBMC FTW. No ads, no commercials, I can watch whatever I want, when I want. Yes there's a bit of a setup and some of the older, more obscure shows may not be out there but chances are they're out there.
I can watch any live sport I want, from around the globe. No blackouts. No commercials. We haven't had cable or satellite, other than for the Internet (cable), in about 4 years, maybe longer. I forget exactly. The only caveat is now our cable provider is doing the bs data capping. All because ONE customer used a huge amount in a m onth. We have a 500GB cap, but sometimes go over it with multiple Netflix/Youtube watchers in the house and Kodi running, plus regular Internet like Facebook and email.
Come on...EVERY time this comes up, and the EDTX is mentioned, you have to mention that Samsung "built" the ice skating rink. That rink was there BEFORE Samsung came in and sponsored it, or donated any money. Quit posting that false information, or do a bit of fact-checking please.
Granted, the earliest I can find is 2009, a YouTube video has the Samsung sponsors on the rink boards, BUT the Wonderland of Lights has been going for at least 27 years in Marshall (when the ice rink operates from Thanksgiving to about New Years).
I'll be glad when they put the venue shopping to an end too, but quit mentioning something that has been there before Samsung came to town.
Yeah, I wasn't thinking about the satellite providers, but who says the fight won't go to them this year, in time for the playoffs, or next year in time for opening day? Or the following. It would go that way before it's over, I'm sure.
Beating the deadhorse about the skating rink is stupid to me. The skating rink existed BEFORE Samsung and it will be there after Samsung.
I'm all for them fixing a broken system though. The companies don't do anything for the local economy. They don't employ anyone, except maybe the lawyers. If they wanted to actually put a legitimate office IN the area and employ more than one person and actually contribute to the economy of the area, I'm all for that.
But quit with the skating rink reference. It's old and has no impact on the story really. The skating rink was there prior to the patent trolls.
Kodi for the win. I can watch almost any show I want with no commercials, period. Yes there's a learning curve, but there's plenty of help out there on the web to get it figured out. We can watch any show, any time. And it's not a torrent but just straight web traffic.
We have Kodi in the living room and Netflix in the bedrooms or anytime on a laptop or tablet. Haven't paid Dish or cable in years, except for the cable Internet that is thankfully not Crapcastic or TWC or the other big providers, so no caps.
While I can't wait for Google to take a bite out of the big cable provider/ISP guys, I feel sorry for those that are stuck with the idiots while Google gets installed in every neighborhood but theirs. The town I live in was actually on one of the first lists to fight for Google to come to us, but sadly our town leaders weren't able to win that battle. Eventually we'll get it. Thankfully, for now, we have a non-Comcast/TWC/Charter/Verizon/AT&T cable provider that works just fine.
Fair enough. Either way it's a helluva lot more than I would pay and I'd just take thee ETF and tell Comcast where they could stick their cable. Someone needs to wake up and fight back against all of the bs going on. Nowadays, Internet is almost as important, if not on the same level, as electricity. People need it for work, communications, and fun yes, but to live their life nowadays. We do live in a first world country don't we...don't we?
The rate though is in Gigabits, not Gigabytes a month. Changes the math a bit. Still a huge # that I'd rather pay the ETF and tell Comcast to pound sand.
