If I did the math right, I figured up a bill of around $64,740 for the month. Using the site here to figure up 1000 Gps daily usage then subtracting 300 GB for the first day and using the max for the remaining days for a 30 day month. If you want to check my math, Click Here
This was a quick a dirty estimation. Not sure how accurate but I'd still take the ETF over this bs. Thank God I'm not in a Craptastic area.
Re: They might want to check the wording on that...
shhhh....don't tell them they have a loophole...they might try to close it so the citizens actually get arrested. But woe to the one that tries to use this law against one of them, that will be the first thing they point out...."I didn't break that law because I was in the state and it stirred up my constituents in the state" or some stupid comment.
There are apartment complexes around here that advertise Internet AND cable as part of the rent charges now. It's not an add-on, but an automatic charge. How many "new" customers will come to the provider that way? The numbers are completely skewed with no true way of seeing it without going door-to-door and asking the people themselves. There really should be a "tech" census to try to get a true picture of what's happening. But, then the cableco/ISP's would be up in arms over that probably as it would really shed light on their bs.
"But believe you me, if I get a toehold in this county and I can get the state attorney's office to prosecute, and a judge to back us up with it, I'll lock the rascal up,
I think that was discussed when all this initially started about the "one phone" bs. It may be about one phone THIS time, but who is to say someone doesn't get the rogue code and revers engineers it for ANY phone to work. Or to trick the signing functionality? I don't want Apple to do this for ANY phone. It just sets too big of a precedent.
These phones are the ONLY pieces of "evidence" this idiot and the NYPD possess for the potential crimes? No witness statements? No surveillance camera footage? These phones are the only chain of evidence? I doubt that. He's just pissed he can't go on a fishing expedition without a warrant.
Is the Manhattan DA an elected official? If so, he needs to be kicked to the curb the next round of elections. IF the people of Manhattan are smart enough to do so.
I'm glad we dropped Dish and are just using XBMC/Kodi on our main TV. Only payment is for Internet. Currently that's a cable provider with no limits and typically get 17-25Mbps even during primetime.
No need to torrent it as it all comes across as HTTP traffic, so no dings on copyright infringement (the cable company will let you know if they suspect it or get a notice).
We can watch almost any tv series if it's ever been on and almost any movie, even many of the current ones in theatres without much hassle. Heck, even watching live sports isn't that big of a deal as long as you find a good source.
25Mbps is too good for them. Give them 5 MAX. Give the staffers 3M/756K and see how quick they start fussing. I do agree though, IF they get 25, cap them at 3GB with $10/GB charge thereafter. But 25 is too good for them, since it's apparently too good for most of America with our "world-class broadband"or whatever crap that guy from AT&T spewed yesterday.
I think there needs to be a grassroots campaign to get these idiots OUT of Congress. If they want to take money from the telcos and spout stupid rhetoric or just incompetent/uninformed for the masses, then they should go. If enough voices spoke up, maybe we'd get heard. Maybe....we don't have the money that the telcos have but if the threat was loud enough, they might start listening.
They're fighting so hard to keep the cell data. Makes me think they have nothing else to convict him on? The police departments and prosecutors today are so ready to fling everything at the wall to see what sticks instead of, oh I don't know, ACTUALLY doing the legwork and true detective work to get a solid case?
I'm curious too as to how many are on the cable list only because they "had" to purchase it to get a decent/any deal on the Internet bill. The bundling really skews the numbers and makes the sinking ship look less like swiss cheese. I pay $60/month roughly for decent cable Internet with no cable package attached. Thankfully we don't have to deal with Comcrap, TWC, or any of the other major players...yet. Kodi and Netflix are all we need. The kids use Netflix on the tablets and Roku's while we use Kodi to watch just about anything imaginable.
Let's drop the T1/T3 lines at the Capitol building (probably numerous lines) down to 25Mbps each, or just give them ONE line for the entire SOB to share. Let's see how long it takes before they start whining about slow Internet. Or their staffers start griping.
Is it any surprise that the two Texas Reps are from Houston (22) and Dallas (6)? The two biggest metro areas in the state, and the two most likely to have Comcast or AT&T as the monopoly there?
Re: Re: Get ready for your Internet connection prices to SOAR
I wonder how long it will take for the monopoly/duopoly companies to get busted up like Standard Oil and Ma Bell did back in 80's. It's funny how things are cyclical. It will just come down to the consumers finally having enough of the crap AND Congress getting out of the ISP/telco pocket. Only time will tell, but it couldn't happen soon enough if you ask me.
We haven't had Dish in probably 3 years now. Thanks to XBMC/Kodi for us and Netflix for the kids, we haven't missed it at all. And I can still get all the sports I might want to watch. I can watch almost any movie ever made and almost every episode of every major TV show then and now. Dish who? And without torrenting. It's all HTTP traffic, so what does the ISP know? Pay about $60/month for 25Mbps cable. Typically get 15-20 even on a bad night. Some nights are worse, but overall it's a good setup.
Add to that "which used to" and I question the intelligence of this intelligence officer. Didn't bother to proofread, probably ham-fisted the email out like a drunken Grape Ape.
I feel like we're getting closer and closer to the Rockefeller/Standard Oil days where a few owned it all and then the government came in and said "not so fast" but, then to do that the government would have to stop taking money from these companies and grow a pair....we all know how that will probably go. But, a guy can dream right? Right? There should be at least 3 competitors in a market area and there needs to be more competition across the country. Not one or two companies owning the entire TV market or Internet market. It all boils down to competition though. That's needed. Then, rather than merging again, the companies live or die by competition, not buying up the competitors.
I'm not saying it will happen. I hope to Hades it doesn't. But, I just know that IF it did somehow happen and encryption disappeared, the first time there's a problem they'll be asking why it happened....all they'll have to do is look at themselves. But, they won't. They'll blame someone or something else. And thus the cycle-o-stupid continues.
