But Zipcar's business of making it possible for multiple people to use one car does not entitle the car manufacturer to additional royalties. If the car manufacturers followed the same logic as the music industry then they would be demanding additional money from Zipcar because they would view each person sharing the same car as a "lost sale".
Exactly. "It's" is a contraction of "It is". My sentence "It's spelled "stalking"." can also be read "It is spelled "stalking"." the apostrophe was correct.
You also apparently don't (also correct apostrophe use) know how to identify irony. Irony is: "The use of words to convey a meaning that is the opposite of its literal meaning". But that's okay, most people can't properly identify irony anyway.
One of the basic tenets of modern society based upon law is that no one can destroy his neighbor's property to his benefit. That's why dumping toxic waste is illegal. Since Red Trumpet, metaphorically, does this, even though they do not carry out the actual act of dumping (they merely provide the proverbial means i.e. trucks, roads, fuel, passes, and fake identity), CL has a good chance of winning.
Nope. They have no chance. Providing the means does not make them liable. That would be like the truck manufacturer being held responsible for the dumping.
Hahahahahahahahahahahaha. You sure fooled me. With nearly every single one of your posts (you seem to come here nearly every day) being in 100% support of whatever nonsense is being spouted by RIAA, MPAA etc.
Obvious Shill is obvious (and oblivious)
You go off on a huge rant, but at the end of the day, you are saying "artists don't deserve to get paid for their work".
You always seem to come back to this same statement. Guess what, YOU ARE WRONG. Nobody here thinks that artists don't deserve to get paid, we just don't think that they should receive payment in perpetuity for the rest of their lives. You also seem to make the statement that "everyone here just wants everything for free" which is also totally wrong. I have no problem spending money on music, but if you expect me to pay for a song before I even know what it sounds like then you are badly mistaken.
P.S. You are the definition of coward since you come here every day and make tons of posts, yet you always post anonymously, even though you have said in the past that you would start posting using a profile.
Wow, lot's of misconceptions in the comments today
So if you view craigslist as a property, and this company keeps on spamming the site causing a nuisance, couldn't they get a C&D on this company and make them stop? I mean, craigslist probably have the right to stop this service from using their site? something like Red trumpet and the users of red trumpet are prohibited from using this site, or something like that.
Nope, Red Trumpet is not spamming Craigslist, users of Red Trumpet's software are. And no, they couldn't just block all users of Red Trumpet software because there are plenty of legitimate uses of the software that are not Spam.
Maybe under anti stocking laws? Can't stock someone.
It's spelled "stalking". "Stocking" is what I used to do when I worked at a grocery store. And no, there is no stalking going on here.
CL has the right to deny service.
Further, Red trumpet is created with only one purpose, to spam the living crap out of CL and to attempt to bypass basic techniques used to avoid spamming on the site. Are they really a 230 service provider, or are they encouraging and profiting from spamming?
While Craigslist does have the right to deny service to anyone, banning Red Trumpet would do nothing because Red Trumpet is not actually spamming Craigslist, users of it's software are. They are simply providers of software that other people use to spam Craigslist. And as mentioned, there are legitimate uses of the software. It similar to a gun manufacturer: While a lot of guns are used in crimes, the gun manufacturer is not responsible for those crimes.
Why is this bogus? It uses says Ralph Lauren right on the picture... that would make me think it was from Ralph Lauren... isn't that what DMCA is for? Am I missing something?
Yes, you are missing the fact that there is nothing wrong or illegal with posting a Ralph Lauren ad and commenting about it. There is no infringement going on here (fair use, they are commenting on an actual Ralph Lauren ad, not trying to pass something off as a Ralph Lauren ad that isn't.) Therefore the DMCA is bogus.

First off, to the people responding to Anonymous Coward, comment #12: No this is not his first time here. He appears to read this blog very regularly and is constantly making posts that completely miss the point. For some reason he always posts as Anonymous, even though it is quite obvious that it is the same person commenting. In the past he has said that he would stop posting anonymously, but he never actually followed through on that.
So once again to Mr not-so-anonymous: I challenge you to at the very least create and use a consistent nickname for your comments. You don't have to reveal who you actually are, but it would be nice to be able to respond to your posts more directly.
Yes, Trent did the entire soundtrack for the original Quake (he may have done the soundtracks for the subsequent ones too). There was also a weapon in the game called the "Nine Inch Nailgun" which fired nine-inch nails, and had the NIN logo on the ammo boxes. So he does have some experience working in video game production, but it sounds like in this case he actually wants to be involved in the Production and Distribution as well.
Hmm, apparently Lily has benefited greatly from free music
I found this gem on rolling stone article about her regarding Lily's early career:
"Allen began working on music in earnest in 2002 and with her father’s help she was signed to Warner Bros. for a short time but released no music. In 2005 she began posting demos onto her MySpace page which was getting thousands of hits and eventually led to her signing with Regal Records."
Amazing isn't it? Early in her career she gave away her music for free (although she used a poor distribution tool) and gained fans and popularity through it.
Graciously accept an apology?? What the heck kind of apology is shouted (all caps). She didn't even bother to spell check or use proper grammar. Besides, she didn't even apologize for the correct thing. She didn't need to apologize for the quote, she needed to apologize for being such a hypocrite.
Did you say that you heard it while you were in your friends car? Well, your friend better have paid a license fee for public performance, otherwise your friend could be in big trouble.
I wonder how it will be before AC (you know the one I am talking about) shows up and spouts some more of his industry shill non-sense. That guy really needs to set up a profile so I can look through his past comments and laugh my head off.
