I can't find it now, but I do remember reading a news report about how de-segregation helped white students improve, but segregation helped black students improve.
And you'd think, with all the improvements in computers and databases, that creating one to track individual students' progress would be simple.
CMP has released all of their unedited tapes to the public, which is why I tend to stop reading news stories when they lie and say they only released "misleadingly edited tapes."
What about things that MUST be given priority? Does "Net Neutrality" allow, for instance, my local hospital to pay their ISP to allow their long-distance surgery video stream to override any other packets on their network?
I have no trouble with them making ISPs treat Netflix, et al., the same as any other traffic, but when I go into surgery and need to have an uninterrupted stream sent to the top brain doctor in NYC, while I lay on the operating table in California, it seems like a really bad idea.
As someone who just started an IndieGoGo campaign, having people use the platform to defraud people is disheartening. Every new fraudster makes my campaign less likely to succeed.
Did they really need 300+ pages to say, "All Internet Service Providers will treat all data travelling on their systems the same, no matter the source or destination."?
"Net Neutrality" might be the best thing since sliced bread.
However, as a citizen of this country, I'm just sick of so many regulations that a guy can write a book how every one of us is committing "Three Felonies a Day."
Why can't we just clear out the hundreds of thousands of regulations and laws that are slowly killing this country before we start piling more onto the list?
I remember when I started getting files, mostly music videos, from iTunes, and I was upset about the DRM. So I started up my packet-recording software and watched what came through when I downloaded the files. Surprisingly, the packets came through unencrypted and the file would be encrypted once it was on my machine.
Then I installed the FileMon program from SysInternals, so I could see where the program was storing the temporarily-unencrypted file before encryption and the temp file was deleted. As soon as iTunes told me it was ready to watch, I ran an undeleter on the temp file and had it free of DRM.
So does my explanation of it (even though they might have changed there process since) mean I just broke the law?
I've been trying to get the state of California to agree to let me publish the California Code of Regulations. All I get is the runaround from them. Section 11344.7 of the Government Code says it is freely available for anyone to print and distribute it, but as soon as I brought this up, they refused to answer any more of my emails.
I'm thinking of just printing it and seeing what they do.
I started compiling the state laws and selling them on lulu.com and they sell pretty well. Plus they are much cheaper than Thompson-West's versions. I don't do anything but take the plain text files and format them into books, so there's no original content from me, and I've already had several police academy cadets ask where they could buy copies. The state could do this much cheaper (they sell the Vehicle Code for $8) but they don't want to do it.
Interesting that Nixon's second article of impeachment was just this exact type of thing; using the IRS to go after your opponents:
"1. He has, acting personally and through his subordinates and agents, endeavored to obtain from the Internal Revenue Service, in violation of the constitutional rights of citizens, confidential information contained in income tax returns for purposed not authorized by law, and to cause, in violation of the constitutional rights of citizens, income tax audits or other income tax investigations to be initiated or conducted in a discriminatory manner."
Why is it so hard to have an online TV station? I have no problem whatsoever watching the commercials on hulu if it means I don't need a cable subscription or sometimes-working antenna.
We've had 10+ years for them to figure this out. What is the holdup?!?!?!
So the recordings are normally posted on the website later? And the point of sweeping for "bugs" is to keep people from recording what's being said? Like the recording that would be posted later on the website?
Senator Reid's very existence offends me. However, I'm not asking that he change his existence.
A normal, mature adult doesn't get offended by ridiculous things, they get offended by things that matter, such as NSA spying, drones killing people and states instituting the "death penalty."
Like many have said before, if you don't like the team's name, don't watch them play and don't support them by buying their merchandise.
I sent an email to the California Building Standards Committee asking them if they would sue me if I published and sold the California Building Standards that are incorporated into title 24 (along with Titles 1 to 28).
I've yet to receive a response.
I then sent an email asking where I could see the text online. Within hours I received links to the standards organizations online to either see a password protected version in pdf form, view the code section by section (making it extremely difficult to get a complete text of it at once) or buy a hard copy for hundreds of dollars.
I've been thinking about this for a while, and if you'll hear me out, I hope I make at least a few salient statements:
I have read and re-read Revelation multiple times, trying to figure out what exactly the mark of the beast will be. To me, it looks as though it is the internet. If you look at Revelation 13:16-17 it says "It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name."
When you think of someone who's never seen or used a computer, and the fact that most of us are right-handed, if you read that passage, can you see how it could be used to describe using a computer (holding a mouse with your right hand)?
Now, with governments worldwide trying to create an "internet ID" that would make sure you are you when interacting with any website online, including buying or selling, and how easy it would be to then force people to get a physical ID to carry with them to augment the online ID when buying or selling, it seems to shoehorn directly into a mark of the beast.
