I'm not sure if I ever got a comment hidden before, I think I did. If this one is hidden too so be it. Sometimes we screw up and send pretty bad comments. I wouldn't get angry if I got hidden but instead I'd use it to avoid similar comments in the future. Some people here don't seem to understand it and keep shouting "censorship" when they get hidden. I've been challenged on some of my positions here before for sure and the criticism was well deserved in most of them. I'm not sure this would be one of those and I intended it to be clearly empty words just for taunting thin skinned dudes that won't be able to do a thing because we do have much better free speech protections AND TD has CDA 230 behind them anyway. But hey, if you want to use the post to attack TD who am I to stop you, no?
I do agree with the modder even if I don't agree with the driving force behind his decision. So the devs cripple the game with malware (DRM), ship buggy/incomplete code taken from their arses to get their shit brought together by a fan. The bottom of the pit is further down below. The guy is just playing safe. I was very interested in the game but these developments have made my mind. I'm not buying nor pirating.
So you have 5 categories with 2 meaning people support neutrality overall, 1 neutral and 2 meaning people oppose net neutrality somehow. Because only the first category means full, unrestricted support they twist the poor lexicon and decide all the rest (including the middle, undecided/neutral category) means opposition.
Desperation. They fear it will become toxic before it can be dismantled leading to politicians backing away from the subject. Pai isn't stupid, he knows people oppose this pile of crap he is proposing and that's why he's clinging to a few dozen foul mouthed comments.
This is the time we strike with as much info, activism and action as possible.
It will be very interesting to follow the next chapters. I wonder if the format can be optimized someway to give it further longevity? If new implementations of it can be developed? Stay tuned (pun not intended)!
So while we watched Prenda falling epically in flames while furiously eating our popcorns Malibu was in the background preparing an even more awesome performance. I'll have chocolate flavored popcorn this time, please.
How about we say it should be repealed because if regularly violates the Constitution, Americans privacy and general Human Rights in the process and the Russian Hacks would be discovered regardless of it?
"Hollywood would never get away with doing a trial like this to block or censor set top boxes or smart tv's in the U.S. or UK"
Wouldn't them? One would think they would never get away with having the Govt seize domain names and get people jailed based on ip addresses. Or sue printers for infringement.
As you said, it's just proof of concept while they wait the other governments to set up the legal framework so they can screw us all. It's kind of mixed but eventually it will get there, the governments stopped pretending they care about their citizenry.
I'd trademark brown to make a big brown trophy in the form of a turd and send to the lawyers at Though Mudder for their awesomeness at suing goddamn non-profits.
"Do news organizations have automated systems that scan media sites alert when something like that happens?"
Probably leaked by someone involved in the process. And this is awesome.
However you had a pretty good idea. We could have a service that monitored for changes in articles on news, including linked sources because in an era of post-truth this is a need, not a nice bonus.
