What you forget is that every industry before 1700 *had* to survive without copyright - and funnily enough, 'artists' survived. Stuff was invented. Society progressed. Even until last century, many things currently covered by copyright weren't. So don't tell me that somehow we have all become such greedy lazy bastards that no-one will invent/create anything without serious financial benefit.
By that argument, why should people work when they can claim welfare? That's all copyright is - a form of welfare to enable certain segments of society to get by. Not to automatically become millionaires and sit on a gravy train for the rest of their life and that of their grandchildren.
It already did in the UK, courtesy of the News of the World. Funnily enough, the editor responsible was none other than the 'delightful' redhead of phone hacking...
He's not, I've seen far too many sites spouting that kind of thing. It is the more right-wing Republicans, but the point is that an awful large part of the Christian/Tea Party right do say this stuff.
How come there's still birther crud happening?
How come anything Obama does, he's accused of being an 'evil' socialist?
It's unfairly restricting someone's free right to sell a product how they like. Seriously, that's like Wal-Mart telling Pepsi that of they want to sell in their stores, Pepsi cannot sell anywhere else for any less.
More accurately, it sounds a form of monopsony, or at least attempted monopsony.
Also, how do you tell the difference between an Egyptian Christian or an Egyptian Muslim? How do you tell the difference between an Indian Hindu and a Pakistani Muslim? What about the difference between a black African Christian, and a black African Muslim?
Because they need to be able to shop out (alleged) terrorists like Abu Hamza, so they need a 'strong' extradition treaty for that. O'Dwyer is obviously some poor patsy who is either being used to say "look, we do extradite other people than just terrorists", or is just collateral damage.
What I find sickening, is that O'Dwyer, innocent of anything in Britain, gets sent over without a whimper, whereas potential terrorists get to fight every step of the way complaining that their 'human rights' (and I am /very/ pro-human rights) will be affected by being in jail...

If you want some 'evidence', go to Fundies Say the Darndest Things or such delightful places as Free Republic or WorldNetDaily.
