Maher is one of the most arrogant, pompus, self satisfied, blowhards in the media. He's a self proclaimed libertarian, but he might as well call himself a beauty queen for all the similarities they share.
Every time I've tried to watch his soapbox, er, show I get so mad I have to change the channel a few minutes in. His BS/min is right up there with O'Reilly and Olberman.
And don't get me started on his "documentary." So if I were to go around and interview morons who happen to believe in evolution and ask them to explain it in detail, and then proceed to mock them when their explanation fails to make sense, would that make me a comedian on par with Maher?
Really? You're going to try and do the partisan thing? Because last I looked, there were just as many, if not more, Democrats supporting SOPA/PIPA as Republicans. So how about you STFU?
Are you saying that your country is at threat from its elected officials? Go crazier, friend, go crazier.
I'll say this country is in danger from its elected officials. Not in the form of terrorist activities, but just from sheer incompetance, greed and corruption.
"We will work with Chairmen Leahy and Smith to make both possible."
Translation: We will remind Chairmen Leahy and Smith of the millions of dollars we've raised for their campaigns and threaten to cut off future funding if they don't fix this in our favor.
So, tell us honestly, Mike, you'll never sit down at any table to work on any sort of solution. Right?
This would be akin to the buggy whip industry asking Popular Mechanics (if they were around then) for solutions to their problems 100 years ago. Pathetic. How about trying to solve your own problems?
They may have very well been able to overcome the broader macro-economic climate if it hadn't been for the legal battles. We'll never know for sure now, will we?
I've come to the conclusion that no candidate for President is worthy of the office, due to the very fact that they want to be President. We should employ scouts that go around the country looking for someone with all the qualities that make a wise, effective leader and force him/her to be President for four years. It should be against his/her will as that is a key quality they should be looking for.
Too often Pols just vote the line. When one steps out in any manner they should be praised.
I bet this has not won him fans in the gov.
You're talking about "the line" like this is drawn up along party lines. It's not. This is a non partisan issue, which is why it comes down to lobbyists and their money. Usually when an issue is non partisan, whichever lobby throws the most money at the key memebers of Congress gets their pet bill passed quitely and without a fuss. It would have been the case here as well if it hadn't angered the internet.
This won't affect his fan status as far as "the government" is concerned (whatever that means). His corporate masters on the other hand may be perturbed.

Menacing implication?
Interesting choice of words there. It seems to imply that the freedoms they enjoy won't be there tomorrow.
