It will be interesting to see what the people of Mississippi think about Hood using his public office to do the bidding of the MPAA at the behest of Hollywood entertainment conglomerates.
If anything this is just another example of how you can funnel monies and buy a politician in elected office to do your bidding under the guise of their sworn duties as an elected official.
Hood is just another in a long line of politicians that when he speaks, you'll always wonder what the truth really is.
Move over Ronald McDonald, there is a new clown to fill your shoes, and it's Jim Hood.
Who didn't see this coming, you can only blackmail -er- I mean extort -er- I mean negotiate with those who are willing to pay.
Rightscorp's whole model is based on the illusion of bad thing's happening, As much as they would like people to believe they the big bad wolf, they are more delusional than anything.
Maybe if Rightscorp acts now they can snap up a few of Roca Labs ex general counsel's to save the day!
If you ever wonder why the people do not trust law enforcement and their own government, this is it.
This is just one instance of the U.S. government official lying to the court that has come out, but how many more have not been caught? How do we trust anything that comes from the Government and it's officials when they have shown they will lie to anyone to protect their own illegal programs.
The U.S. Government and it's law enforcement agencies are out of control and are running amok, there is no way to trust them, their is no level playing field, no innocent before guilty, no disclosure.
The U.S. Government has shown they will lie, cheat and deceive the courts and judges to further their programs at all costs and peoples constitutional rights and legal rights are not applicable.
Honestly if it wasn't for organisations like the EFF and others fighting to expose what the U.S. government seeks to keep hidden, we'd never know the truth and the Government would never tell it.
It's pretty sad that the U.S. government who proudly proclaim the U.S. Constituion to be one of the things to be proud of and the protections and rights it provides to it's citizen tramples over it every day and ignores it's duty to abide by it.
Honestly the ruling that came down was a travesty.
You'd almost swear the Judge was bored and intentionally ruled the way he did just for kicks, knowing full well the controversy that would start and the effect this would not only have on Google but others as well.
Roca Labs is suing more Randazza now? These guys obviously don't realize this sue everyone strategy isn't working.
The publicity they were seeking to avoid about their company has now come tenfold at them. Honestly, how many people heard of Roca Labs before they sued Pissed Consumer...Not too many I'd suspect.
But ever since they sued Pissed Consumer, now everyone has heard about these guys and not for anything good. Obviously Roca Labs company heads are not masters of the PR game
I am sure Mr.Hoeppner, the 75 yr old senior who had the Marathon County sheriff's SWAT team and their armored vehicle show up on his door step to collect an unpaid series of fines totaling around 80k is having a sense of Deja Vu right now.
I am sure Mr.Hoeppner, the 75 yr old senior who had the Marathon County sheriff's SWAT team and their armored vehicle show up on his door step to collect an unpaid series of fines totaling around 80k might not agree with Rabinovich on how these are used an deployed.
Nor I am sure would the folks in Ferguson, Mo., which focused attention on the growing militarization of local law enforcement particularly the use by even very small police departments of surplus armored military vehicles.
I think most people that saw these tactics and use of equipment in these situations as to how much the policing model has gone to the wrong side of equation.
Seriously, this superintend ought to apologize to this kid and offer to carry her books to class for a week.
Harassment, I doubt this girl even met this superintendent, obviously Mrs.Chavez is a little too sensitive, perhaps that's from criticism of the school board by parents, but to chastise this girl for it because of the girl used Chavez's picture in a diorama is beyond stupidity.
I highly doubt any court or person who is of rational mind would see this as harassment, obviously the other people whose pictures were used didn't see an issue.
Maybe someone needs some sensitivity training, and I am not talking about the student. Mrs Chavez will be lucky if the school board isn't on the end of a lawsuit over this
I wonder what they do to 8 yr olds who skateboard on the sidewalk in this town. I gather they call in the National Guard.
And heaven forbid those pesky Girl Guides should bother anyone with trying to sell cookies at someones door in town, that would probably end up with snipers and sharp shooters being deployed to quell that para military organization that was threatening the town with baked goods.
All that was missing was the joint press conference from the Sheriff Bean and the Mayor was how this was a terrorism operation that threatened the highway landscape sight lines.
Wow. Remind me when I get to retirement age to head no where near this place. I'm sorry but your telling me they saw a 75 year old man as a threat that they needed SWAT? Year right.
Or is this a case of the old fella just wasn't going to put up with this Marathon Count officials telling him how he should keep his tractors on HIS property in the damn country?
Was this bothering people on a scenic drive through the country that his tractor was out? Did it look out of place to have a tractor on the farm? I mean c'mon now.
Or is this a case of somebody with nothing better to do hassling some senior over a tractor being out and the fact they didn't like that the senior wasn't going to put up with something he thought was a bunch of nonsense
Your telling me that because he hadn't paid these escalating fines, they need to send SWAT to kidnap this guy and take him to a bank and coerce him to pay his fines?
Like there wasn't other ways to collect than with SWAT doing debt collection? I would love to see the e-mails of who thought SWAT was needed, because you can bet someone started this and demanded SWAT be involved to scare the old guy into paying.
Let's hope the ACLU takes up this old guys cause here, because this is blatantly an abuse of power and resources. I guess they just couldn't lien his property or add it to his taxes? Nope no other remedies but kidnapping the old guy and taking him to the bank
I am amazed at this. The guy is 75!!!! What were they afraid he was going to make a run for it out the back door with his cat under his arm?
There ought to be some heads roll over this, cause you can't tell me there were no other remedies available to collect these fines other than SWAT
