"The latest NSA plan to stop the next Ed Snowden is to get rid of 90% of their sysadmins and automating many of their jobs. I would imagine that more than a few sysadmins might have an opinion or two about the ability of the NSA to really automate away their jobs, but that's an interesting move nonetheless."
The most disturbing part of this is not whether they are capable of it...but the simple fact they are doing it. To quote Denis Nedry...
"You think that this type of automation is easy to come by? Or Cheap? Because if you can find a cheaper guy than me John, I would like to see you try..I really would"
Jurassic Park automation is easily muddied up and clogged.
I'm also reminded of the methods used by the IRS to target Conservative groups filing for non-profit status....using key word searches...imagine that type of targeting on all US citizens...then automate it!
When this system is finally in place I'm half tempted to repeatedly copy and paste the word "bomb" to see what happens to it as a comment to one of these threads.
Re: Re: Victim Of Obama's Crackdown On Whistleblowers Says Calling Leakers Spies Is Modern Day McCarthyism
Senator McCarthy was so paranoid that he started accusing everyone he disagreed with it lost a lawsuit with as Communists or Communist Sympathizers...in 1950's US that was enough to get you tried for treason if you had any sort of hint. McCarthy's paranoia was so great that he even started attacking and suing the press based on the fact that they were "Communists spies" and even poor President Dwight D. Eisenhower got accused of being one....after openly questioning Senator McCarthy...
Ninja I encourage you to read the entire thing as a whole and to look up American History of the 1950's...if not find the entire recording of it. You'll start to see or hear a lot of The Obama Administrations accusations (Senator McCarthy) about the Press and Snowden (who would be portrayed as Senator Harris) parallel with the type of paranoia that McCarthy displayed.
Please cite the part in this ENTIRE THREAD where I specifically ever stated the my core Christian beliefs were either A) At the core of all religion, or B) Exclusively Christian.
Now let me educate your ignorance in trying to point out a "logical mishap" in my use of the words "core Christian Beliefs"....I never once said these concepts were exclusive and they clearly aren't. The phrase of "Core Christian Beliefs" means by terms of properly spoken English that the beliefs I adhere to are based upon the teachings of one Jesus of Nazareth. I only said my beliefs stem from the teachings of Jesus Christ....not the core of the freaking world's other religions....Come on TOG, you have got to be smarter than that!
"You keep injecting fact into his fantasy world. He really, really, really needs to attack/blame atheists."
Maybe you should look at the chronological order and check out who attacked what first...you started your crusade upon my beliefs on me first and I've done almost not but turn the other cheek or otherwise be stern towards you. I still love you.
"The fact that it's religion is irrelevant. What's relevant is the fact that his entire thought process (I use the term loosely) is intellectually and morally bankrupt.
Claims that gods are real are identical to claims that the Easter Bunny is real. There are equal amounts of evidence for both. If he claimed the Easter Bunny is real, I'd ridicule his beliefs for that. "
Read what you just said...very carefully...you claim your attacks are irrelevant to religion....yet you mention that my claims adhere to fake gods that don't exist??
You really really need help....go see one of my colleagues...he or she will get your skitzoid anabolism straightened out and treated in no time ;-)
Re: Re: Re: Victim Of Obama's Crackdown On Whistleblowers Says Calling Leakers Spies Is Modern Day McCarthyism
Then change the applicable names and years to modern equivalents.....year being 2008...this means that since McArthy would be Obama, I'm willing to bet McCain would be Harris....and in the spirit of sentiments towards Communism in 1954 being shared by McArthy thus lauded against Obama given we switch "Communism" to "American Value System" or anything applicable to conform to political spectrum..Edward R. Murrow would be FoxNews (Lou Dobbs) or quite possibly CNN (Anderson Copper).
Re: Re: Victim Of Obama's Crackdown On Whistleblowers Says Calling Leakers Spies Is Modern Day McCarthyism
I'm wondering how much more closely it would correlate with a single wording change....replace "Communists" or anything having to do with Communism to "American Values"....I'm already feeling disturbed by the correlation in that non-political modernized version.
BS Simon I couldn't agree more to your statement. The beauty in all this is that there is going to be a huge bubble that bursts. It's going to cause change alright....just not the way the Obama Administration will be expecting it to.
On a side note....true reform never comes from those who campaign on a promise...it only comes when that promise is your only camping. You cannot make a promise without a clear idea of your core principles and I think that's exactly what the Obama Administration sorely lacked. Never vote on a person with extreme charisma who is promising total sweeping change and reform...Humanity learned that the hard way with Hitler.
Re: Re: Re: Re: That's what Google should do! Too big to prosecute, anyway...
Actually, both have their merits. I just have issues with Google in of itself for various past stated reasons beyond any OS that they've made. The geeky computer nerd in me loves Android for its customizability....but the simplicity guru in me loves iOS. And honestly, in case you were referring to Chrome OS vs. OSX...everything is better than OSX save Windows 8.
As far as customizability...it's perfectly legal to Jailbreak or "Root" a WiFi only iPad....my favorite mod is getting Mac System 6.0.8 running on an iPad via emulation...some have even taken that as far as modding an iPad to be the screen of a classic Macintosh like the one in my avatar...and surprise, the Apple Bluetooth Keyboards and Mice all work well in Mac OS 6 ^_^
Now I could get into the history of it until adnoseum...but it has almost nothing to do with the article at hand.
"If I understand it correctly, at what point did the constitution become less as limiting the government and more as granting the citizens of the USA rights that they naturally have?"
That's why we have Amendments...to ensure that no branches of our Government have too much power. This is called checks and balances...unfortunately for us US citizens...whose rights are supposed to be dutifully protected from tyranny of any level concerning ruling powers in the US by the Constitution...are finding it rather difficult to understand why our governmental Administration continues to trample on our basic inalienable human rights to not only self govern our lives within the confines of what is otherwise reasonable law.
In other words...we are whole heartedly confused as citizens as to why our own current administrators and representatives would be so foolish to violate the rights of the citizens they are supposed to represent.
You ever hear the term "Corporate Cronyism"? It's often used as a description to the US Congress...well now they are a step above that with "Self serving interests"....they now rarely support honest business establishments and are largely backed by Hollywood.
Paparazzi by no means should be considered real journalism ....you folks ar TechDirt are a journalists who take your time to inform others of what you dig up....to inform others. You're not a gossiping speculating organization that invades privacy of public figures. I commend true journalists everywhere that adhere to ethics and accountability :-)
" and erroneously equates what the government is doing with what Google is doing."
Yes...that is the spammy part...but It is quite interesting to debate with him when he doesn't spam about it. Outside of spam he can be downright reasonable at times.
