Actually you're wrong. Factual means "of or pertaining to facts; concerning facts", it does not mean something is a fact. And something claimed to be factual can certainly be incorrect, misleading or an outright lie.
Your mocking outrage is quite pathetic. How about some mature discussion instead? Act like an adult for a change.
"...post number six on the on the subject of david lowery? wow... so much for "not much to say about it." "
Reading comprehension fail much? Let me correct: post number six on the on the subject of other people's responses to David Lowery.
It's telling that there's been no attempt to refute anything said by those people, only a desperate and pathetic attempt to turn the conversation to Mike's throwaway line instead. Nobody's buying it, sorry.
"It's the law of the land. Don't like the law? Change it through democratic means."
By "democratic means", you mean voting for the politician you despise the least, hoping they might give a damn about your petty concerns as opposed to chasing corporation dollars? Ha! That's quite the fantasyland you live in. As has been said many times, democracy does not end after the election. History is littered with examples of laws that were eventually changed because it became clear people did not agree with them and ignored them as a result. That's just as democratic as voting.
"You don't get to choose which laws suit your lifestyle and reject laws that don't. Neither do I."
Of course we do. Any one of us, including you, can decide to ignore any law you want, as long as you're prepared to face the consequences. In case you've missed it, a significant proportion of the population have decided not to follow copyright laws. They have done so for a myriad of reasons far more complex than is given credit for by the likes of you.
"The notification is LIGHTLY COLORED. On every computer. It's only a matter of how light, from computer to computer."
Yep, and lots of the other colours on my screen can be described the same way, and yet I can see them all. Just admit you're the only one with a problem here, fix your monitor and move on.
I love the elitist snobbery here. You literally laugh at someone who enjoys making music only as a hobby and has no intention of having a music career. It's no wonder you stay anonymous; you know you'd turn off a lot of fans and potential fans with your arrogant attitude. Ask yourself how many people would actually want to give you money after talking to them the way you do.
"With extensive overtime, some toll collectors make more than $100,000, while salaries for several officers working at the bridge topped $200,000 last year."
Re: Re: I wrote this but it got moderated (maybe it is nonsense?)
"You people are the worst form of slime. Ripping off artists. Real charming."
Really? Someone who doesn't pay for music is the worst form of slime? It's not like you're saving lives or anything. I think perhaps you overvalue your contribution to the world.
Here's a tip: if you want to make a money from your music, stop calling your customers names.
"Oh, so you don't want people to have respect and trust for your blogging?"
Wow, did it take only 38 minutes to forget what you wrote? First you said Mike wants the respect and trust of a "real journalist" but now it's respect and trust for his "blogging". Is that a slip the tongue or are you claiming these are the same thing?
You and a few other regular critics are the only one ever making the journalism claim. Most of Techdirt readers are quite comfortable with the understanding that this is an opinion blog.
It's amusing how desperate you are to turn this discussion about Carreon into an expose of Inman, despite nobody else's interest in doing so? Why don't you tell us all about your very obvious personal interest in Inman? I doubt anyone believes for a second that you're just some neutral observer.
I know it's wishful thinking, but it'd be nice if there was some form of meaningful threat Flickr (and others could make) against false DMCA claims, even if it's just publishing the notices.
If Flickr really wanted to "benefit the whole Flickr community" they would add the words "...and the false DMCA claim will be reported to the relevant authorities" to the end of their statement.

No, like most aspects of religions, it's just a made-up concept so people can feel good about themselves. It is neither powerful nor a force.
Do you have a reality-related argument?
