sits back with the popcorn
Its fun watching all these internet lawyers telling us how this is a solid case & all actually about Trump.
Y'all sound like those lovely people who still think there is a secret pedophile ring operating out of the basement of a pizza place that does not actually have a basement. Even seeing the cops arresting the guy who shot the place up demanding people go into the basement to save the kids flat out saying there is no basement... you still obsess about the basement.
No matter the outcome (protip: the kids losing because offering no evidence supporting what you claim & expecting it to work only works for POTUS) the battle lines are drawn & we'll blame the liberal courts, who appointed the Judge, the Deep State, and a cast of 1000 other people to blame that we always blame things on.
Kid got bad media coverage because of the spin applied along the way. The raging hardon here isn't you feel bad for the kid, it is because Mango Mussolini told you the Post is the enemy & you believe him even when he tells you he never said that as they play back the video where he said it. The kid is just a handy way of hiding that you hate the Post because you were told to by a man who dislikes the things he says and does being reported accurately and not with the spin his staff applies later to try to undo the damage.
If you cared so much about 16 yr olds, perhaps you could show half the fire & brimstone for all of the 16 yr olds who've died in shootings and all the kids who no longer have a chance to make it to 16. But mean newspaper was mean, we have to shout our outrage... dead kids aren't trendy enough.

HI DANIEL!!!!!!!!!
Welcome to the festivities of extortion with a dead sheepskin.
I am looking forward to your lawyers half of the article, because I dearly love seeing trolls panic when faced with people able to sense the bullshit and shove it back on them.
I know it felt like your life was flashing before your eyes, and as myself and others have had to explain thousands of time, stop, take a breath. They want to terrified & reacting without thinking. If I had read you posting about this asking a question if it was legit, even with no knowledge of this particular troll I would have pointed out 1 very simple fact.
They claim to be pulling tens of thousands of dollars for clients & are completely unable to google or do the most basic due dilegance on where they were sending their 'threat'. Always a hallmark of a quality firm, do no research on who you claim cost your client millions of dollars & send the demand letter to the first address you find... because even the shitty background information websites that pop up on google cut into their bottom line.
Completely from left field, if you were to still have access to the image one might suggest the multiple reverse image search tools available online where you might be able to locate the original source where it was credited as CC... but then I like puzzles.
That Anonymous Coward (profile), 20 Feb 2019 @ 9:41pm
Imagine that, seeing IP weaponized more and more.
It is almost as if the huge push to 'protect' IP, ignoring any warnings of bad outcomes, has become exactly what was warned about.
There are so many penalties for not jumping high enough or fast enough yet somehow despite the mounting evidence of bad actors abusing it, still no penalties for them. We really need to stop pretending we can't touch the sacred cows, that sometimes the cow breaks into your house & shits everywhere. We shouldn't be forced to accept the cow doing this & if it keeps doing it we should make burgers.
That Anonymous Coward (profile), 20 Feb 2019 @ 5:29pm
And this campers why the power is shared by various branches, so that 1 insane asshole can't force the country to never talk about pubic hairs on cans of coke, the fact the commander in chief told yet more lies, or that someone with power can crush anyone daring to say anything that hurts their feelings.
While its so trendy to scream fake news and say how unfair it is, when the screams of fake news try to drown out he actually said that, there is video of him saying it, and somehow its all just made up so you should have to spend millions fighting a stupid lawsuit so that the fear of lawfare stifles more coverage of the truth that doesn't meet the approval of someone who lies at the drop of an adult diaper.
That Anonymous Coward (profile), 20 Feb 2019 @ 5:23pm
But if we have the black boxes open to be examined & flaws pointed out then the bad guys will win! They will change how they operate and totally defeat this private intelligence gathering system that no one wants to explain or be responsible for.
Something something eventually they will hit upon that 1 target pissed off enough & with enough power/money to fight back and they will destroy them exposing it all.
I said this about copyright trolls, I said this when they threatened to unmask me and drag me into court (putting me on the stand to testify about why I called them extortionists is suicidal). A massive failure of this system targeting a privacy activist, who quite possibly warned about this exact outcome, is serving up a large plate of failure.
That Anonymous Coward (profile), 20 Feb 2019 @ 5:17pm
If the "good guys" are demanding this much cash for their records yet when they want to demonize the dead citizen those records are released in first 10 seconds... one might need to ask why.
Perhaps we are approaching the point when we stop believing the "only a few bad apples" narrative & admit like other massive "good" bodies (Catholic Church, Baptists, Football Programs, Boy Scouts, the list boggles) protecting their image has undermined their accountability. That it is better to protect someone who violated their sworn duties to keep people believing they are always "good guys" than to admit they are human & they stupidly tried to protect their image at the cost of life or innocence of citizens they are charged with protecting... as long as the offender isn't a cog of the system.
That Anonymous Coward (profile), 20 Feb 2019 @ 5:11pm
OMG!!!!!!!!!!! If we don't give him protections he won't make more dances!!!!!!!!!!!
Er wait... I'm okay with this.
It wasn't valuable until someone else figured out how to make a buck off of it, then it was so important to him.
This literally is the nightmare of the copyright cartels, that something they have might be used to make a dollar they never pursued & they might not get their payday for it. How else can you explain them keeping our culture bereft of a public domain so that new things can be built on our shared culture?
That Anonymous Coward (profile), 19 Feb 2019 @ 9:22pm
Dude unable to understand people use gmail who have nothing to do with Google... and yet you want him to decide how the internet shoudl work?
I think he just proved that none of the legislators pushing this understand anything about the internet & are just in the pockets of the copyright cartels who demand the world pay to protect them from progress.
That Anonymous Coward (profile), 19 Feb 2019 @ 9:19pm
In the race for headlines, your rights are up for debate.
Doesn't matter if its real or not, headlines matter more!!!
So many stupid people cheering this on... I look forward to someone suing a platform they use under the same circumstances & watch them trying to pretend it is somehow different.
Liability is on those involved, not the platform b/c they have money.
We'd call them crazy if a drunk driver sued the car maker, the city, the county, they state for providing the car & roads he drove drunk on... but add a moral outrage (imagined or not) and this is perfectly okay in some peoples minds.
That Anonymous Coward (profile), 19 Feb 2019 @ 9:15pm
See, we've been warning you....
Calling 911 looking for help ends up with people dead.
I also enjoy the Chief trying to spin the story that the neighbors were all happy these people were dead now b/c they were bad.
Perhaps it is time we stop buying the few bad apples bullshit & admit we've put more importance on the appearance of them being the good guys over the simple fact some of them are bad guys. We need serious reform & punishments.
Lie about a drug buy.
Lie on the stand.
Lie about weapons.
All of these things we've caught cops doing, and somehow they have the 'right' to hide bad acts by the cops but can read the entirely litany of 'crimes' suspects have ever even thought about committing...
That Anonymous Coward (profile), 19 Feb 2019 @ 9:08pm
If seeing a 'naughty' word on a license plate will so unhinge someone, perhaps we should be wondering why they are allowed a drivers license?
He wants to pay you extra money for a plate, perhaps take the money?
The world will not end because of a plate says assman.
Plates are meant to identify vehicles, pretty sure Assman is more memorable than 87987flijs98.
We really need to spend less time protecting people from the possibility of being offended.

They can rape children.
They can feed them spoiled food.
They can murder people.
They can rape women.
The laws we are all supposed to follow can be suspended because they are 'bad people' who broke a law.
I look forward to you being murdered for not using your blinker.

Perhaps we need to look at a different container so we can see the apples going bad and remove them before all of the apples are engaged in trying to keep the image of apples defending us from doctors as they insist we keep the ones rotting & covered in mold or the doctors will win.

Yes it is all Craigslists fault & not the fault of leadership ignoring the iceberg dead ahead, and deciding people enjoy autoplaying videos, malware serving ads, the word in a story no requiring megs & megs of data, paywalls will save them, fire everyone FB told us to pivot to video, and well the leaderships salaries keep going up like they are doing a good job as they stay the course into the iceberg.
Speaking of ice, are you also lamenting for those poor ice men who are out of business because refrigerators became a thing?
Why don't we still have them!?!? We totally could have taxed the makers of these demon cold boxes to keep the ice men afloat!!

All them trees, no one can see the forest....
How about a bill to end throttling for everyone?
How about forcing them to be crystal freaking clear about what they actually offer vs the bs pr spin to get you to sign up.
You might get up to 100 MBS... but in truth our network in your area is lucky to hit 1MBS.
We haven't invested in expanding coverage or availability so the network is ALWAYS congested so everyone gets throttled.
A thing for first responders is a bold PR move to get headlines and soundbites... except we've been paying billions of dollars to build out a nationwide network just for them... that isn't complete, or rolled out based on areas with greater need. Perhaps allowing the telcos access to another piggybank with no oversight or milestones they meet or pay the price for failure wasn't the best idea.
