anyone who is "pro steal resources from other countries" to the point where they make up attacks against our country in order to justify war, and to jack up military spending to insane amounts, is, without a doubt, pro war. To think or believe otherwise is naive.
The US Chamber of Commerce actually doing something based on intelligent reason? ha! I sincerely do hope the insanity will come back to bite MPAA/RIAA so hard they actually wake up.
Yet I can't comprehend they'd do so since they're in a death-roll.
What's worse is the concept that if they do have to admit they screwed up, they're then just as likely to get their political hacks in Washington to bail them out.
And WTF comes from descendents of the first animals to disembark Noah's ark, who, upon stepping on dry land for the first time in so long, and were thus not yet used to unmoving ground beneath their paws proclaimed "WTF" for the very first time in earths history.
Ron Paul has so many great qualities rarely seen in politicians. Unfortunately I think his frustration at not being given enough respect from the masses of corrupt politicians has gotten the better of him.
Kind of like how Ross Perot had some great ideas until he lost perspective of reality.
probably some pay-off. All too often governments are silenced when a company agrees to pay someone off or more indirectly, contribute funding to a cause tied to government officials. /tinfoilhatrant
"So, you could say that the Carreon Effect is the effect that occurs when an attempt to advise someone that their position is untenable causes them to double and quadruple down on said position."
And which results in further piling on of the obvious across the interwebs, thus bringing even more attention to the dubiousness of said Maneuver.
The Carreon Maneuver does sound appropriate regarding his asshattery. However that effort clearly caused the Carreon Effect, which itself has grown to epic proportions accordingly.
Yeah I actually built my reputation within my industry on the notion that I rant. Ceaselessly. And use the words asshat, asshattery, asshattish all the time when describing others I find in my crosshairs. So even if WE think Carreon is a fool (and believe me, no so many counts he really is an asshat), there are probably a lot of companies and individuals who would fall for his marketing spin.
Wow. I just read the motion. I agree - it ONLY discusses (repeatedly throughout) the intellectual property and "other intangible assets" and does an extensive job of detailing exactly what that refers to.
So leave it to another attorney (the receiver) to pull her own twist of logic...
well I need to state that I stand corrected, if your reading is accurate, since I did NOT take such time to thoroughly read through the motion and her report. And that should teach me a lesson lest I become subject to the Carreon Effect due to my overzealousness in berating others on this site. :-)
Re: Re: In the Theme of Naming these kinds of Actions........
Yeah it's the Carreon Effect, as we so aptly coined that phrase right here on Techdirt. Had the Gibson whack-a-mole issue reared its ugly head to the degree it's currently exposed before Carreon came onto the scene, it would be the Gibson Effect. Timing is everything especially when talking precedent.
Even though Carreon really stole the Carreon Effect concept from Barbra Streisand. And he should be held liable for that as well.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: And where is Righthaven getting the money to hire a laywer?
come off it. I forgive you as a law student for not comprehending sound fiscal responsibility. So let me help you out. It's her ethical and fiduciary responsibility to curtail any expenditures wherever possible, so that she, on behalf of Righthaven, can fulfill as much of their legally obligated debt as possible.
The fact that you don't grasp that notion speaks volumes of why so many lawyers go off half-baked with complete disregard for fiduciary considerations and only seek to put another feather in their cap, and get a big slice of the perceived potential pie should they actually win.
my thoughts exactly. And maybe this is why Carreon stepped back from his own lawsuit. So he could devote 100% of his time (the portion at least, which isn't taken up by he and his wife ranting their lunacy at the dinner table) to the Gibson case.
and I waive my right to place a time frame on either outcome. Clearly you do realize that IS my right? Because if you think it's a term or condition I am obligated to comply with, I'll just hire Charles Carreon to sue your ass. :-)
I'm putting 5,000 points on #3 under the presumption he'll include Vint Cerf and DARPA in the next version since it was clearly their responsibility to have created a mechanism to police Internet bullies when they first invented the interwebs. And hedging my bet by placing another 5,000 points on #2 with the condition that he would then likely file a complaint with his local police department as well as the FBI and insist on witness protection. Or possibly seek out a restraining order that states the interwebs is not allowed to come within 500 feet of his place of abode.
How about we know the facts. Such as the TSA's inability to actually find weapons and harmful substances in countless tests. Or the fact that you made up this pretend measure to appease the fear of unsuspecting mindless drone people so they'd feel safer, when in fact all you're doing is contributing to the erosion of our freedom and privacy. I have nothing to hide, and breeze through airport security every time I travel throughout the year, yet that's not the issue here. Feeling up little children for example. Yeah. because you know. That 3rd grader might be a terrorist.
thanks Mike. now, we finally know it's YOUR fault we suffer at the hands (literally) of the TSA. Please. Since she's YOUR representative (and thus does YOUR bidding), the collective masses of Techdirt readers implore you to reconsider and ask her to retract her endorsement of such nonsense!
