Look I am and am not a Apple User (not in recovery). I own Apple products, also Android, and Microsoft products.
Apple implemented the policy to prevent outside purchases not just to protect their eco-system but also to prevent scammers.
The reason they did this was to aid the average (read:not informed) person from paying for something that they did not expect to, or for signing up for a reoccurring service they did not mean to.
Not do I think this situation is wrong. Well, heck yeah.
Policy is a way to belay thinking. In this case they did not engage thought.
Privacy does not need to be defined by victim status.
Reporting the fact of crimes should always be legal. Legal meaning/including means place, time, gender, race and number of victims. But names of the victims should never be allowed. (The convicted people give up that right to privacy.
Which means that their privacy is protected until their are convicted.) Sorry but unless the victim says OK you should not tell. Period. What "public interest" is served by allowing further victimization of those victims of crime?
It is not designed to actually protect people. People are the most prolific users of the internet, not the collectives like Government or Business. CISPA should fail because only protection that service the needs of the people first should ever be implemented.

DH,
I really don't have time to fight that fight but America is not even close to being mostly "kinda-right". Surveys put it close to 31%-right -- 36%-left and the rest independent.
The media in general is and has been "mostly-left" by their own survey results. Please no fight here. I was just stating facts. The media self-identifies as democratic by a wide majority. Every time!
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Rush, Rush, Rush I thought that you were more savvy than that.
Just look to their collective actions and the amount of the popular information that the are responsible for disseminating. By simple fact the left controls more of the information dispensed to the general populous.
Please take a moment to see any survey on the amount of all media people that are more likely to vote Democratic. The are the New-Speak world of 1984. I don't make this stuff up.
And I don't buy games anymore if they don't have an option to resell. My time is limited. So I can only play so many games and I pick and choose those games based on the entertainment value I perceive that they will provide and my ability to get the best value for my time and money. Classic economic exercise.
I have been a PC gamer since the days of beta testing Doom. But I prefer Xbox games because I can play and then resell them.
Lost money.
Also I own just 1 steam game and will never buy another.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Rush, Rush, Rush I thought that you were more savvy than that.
No I was disputing the line "Limbaugh's behavior is typical of the attitude of the Far-Right GOP who would love to take us all back to the 19TH Century.".
Which is false. The far-right is less likely to censor than the far-left.
Re: One of the big problems with DMCA takedowns....
I agree. There should be some way for everyone to dispute the take-downs and receive compensation if they prove to be bogus. Also allow for punitive damages and reimbursement of costs associated with the defense.
Sadly, the trial lawyers won't let something like that pass.
Re: Re: Rush, Rush, Rush I thought that you were more savvy than that.
No Rush's behavior is typical of the Left which always wants to control your speech.
Argue with me on this and I will provide you link after link to prove my point. The left have always worked to control media. The right to control the message not the whole dialog.
Liberals control more of the dialog and news than the conservatives even could hope to control. Do some basic research.
I dispute that. You forget the fight against the dems effort to implement the Fairness Doctrine because they had little success in the talk radio arena. The non-dems fought hard to stop it.
It allows me to buy games I might not have bought otherwise. Plus it has at least a dozen times drawn me in to the franchise and created the "need" to own the next edition. I have played Halo since the first and have bought every game since even the crap Halo Wars. (Sold that in like 2 weeks)
So the used game market gets me to buy more than I would otherwise. Also I would be less inclined to buy if I knew that buying meant a marriage instead of relationship.
Sure some games and franchises I am willing to get married to but most I am not.
This is from a 40+ year old gamer. Hear my wheeze! Or lose my dollars!

That is mostly true. The statement was that the left are more LIKELY to censor which is true.
