DailyDirt: Science Needs Your Help

from the urls-we-dig-up dept

Kickstarter isn't the only crowdfunding platform on the internet. There are plenty of folks jumping on the crowdfunding bandwagon, and with the decline of basic science funding, scientists are hoping to convince some backers that their pet projects are worth a multitude of small contributions. Here are just a few examples. By the way, StumbleUpon can recommend some good Techdirt articles, too.

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

I think you posted this request in the wrong forum. Try one of the Creationist forums and I am sure you can get a lot of funding.

This seems like a good place to drop a link to a crowdfunded privacy-focused ISP...

I think they'll need a bit more than $1M to create a useful nationwide ISP...

ooh, but a $25,000 level for free ISP service for life?! That might be cool if they said what dataspeeds.. and meant the users life, not the life of the ISP.
