Anyone who thinks about issues like contract law, email trails, digital forensics, intellectual property or intangible assets in the Internet age. Seems like that covers most everyone on this site, except for trolls who fling their own poo because haven't enough brain cells to participate in discussions.
We've pledged to several Kickstarter projects in the past. Some get funded, some don't, but I hope that every artist/tinkerer/dreamer on there feels a little bit of love.
Kickstarter is one way we can help people get a leg up - and without all the layers of bureaucracy and overhead found in many charities.
ZeniMax/Bethesda - now is your chance to let it drop
Seriously, just let the thing drop and move on. Quit bugging this guy for using 'Scrolls' in the title. I've purchased many of the the *Scrolls games but right now you guys are on a time out. I won't buy any of your games because your lawyers are ruining your reputation as a game company. Pretty soon you'll be lumped in with the copyright trolls and music industry. Just walk away from the lawsuit and consider donating $20,000 to a charity of Markus' choosing.
# Also, seriously, the monsters that level up with you and vendors with no money? Nice ideas in theory, but I got really tired of fighting lvl 32 rats in the same place where I'd been fighting lvl 3 rats a few days earlier. Where were the giant honkin' lvl 32 rats then? Why aren't there any lvl 3 rats around now? Did they get eaten or have they just been at the gym? Also, I left piles and piles of armor and weapons sitting outside the vendors so I'd be able to sell a couple of them the next time I came through that town. The streets were littered with the stuff, and nobody seemed to notice. There is no economic reason to restrict the money supply in a single player game.
Funny, I was just thinking that there should be an entire blog devoted 24/7 to covering Righthaven. It would be like the funny pages, or the SCO trail.
Had I read Matt Stine's micro review of Pusser's outside of this article I might have sampled some this coming (U.S.) holiday weekend. However, after reading about their lawsuit over a drink recipe THEY DIDN'T EVEN INVENT I'll never support this company.
(anonymously, of course, so he doesn't get in to trouble with his publisher)
The author understands that some people are willing to read pirated copies of his books. There is some (probably large) percentage of those people would not normally purchase his books. Why not provide high quality electronic versions out to the pirating masses? The experience of reading without typos, formatting errors, wonky page rotations, etc. has got to make for a more enjoyable reading experience; one which might turn some of the pirates in to customers.
I'm not trolling, just proposing an a variation on the original Cunning Plan.
As a gift to the author I have added a new copy of The Praxis to my Amazon cart. I might also pick up "This is Not a Game:"
FYI to the author:
- The hardcover link for Amazon.co.uk for "The Praxis" on your website says "Currently unavailable".
- It is too bad the 3-fer book is unavailable (Dread Empire's Fall, 1-3). I checked both .co.uk and .com with no luck.
- Finally, why is the Kindle version of The Praxis the same price as the paperback at Amazon.com? There are no printing, shipping or carrying costs.

Why not just post electronic versions?
