The BPI "Home taping is killing music" campaign was started in the 80's... so to be fair it's at least 30 years of "lost sales", "piracy is killing the industry", "piracy is theft", "won't somebody please think of the artists".
Oh and I'm pretty sure the arrival of the digital era and minimal distribution cost put paid to the need of record shops, video stores etc... doesn't matter, industries report greater revenues, more product year on year and people made redundant go find another job.
Doesn't matter... they just go get some other job, it's not like these people don't do anything ever again, not like some massive human scrapheap full of people who's jobs have been lost due to innovation or a change in the way things happen.
That's why the AC's comment doesn't matter.. things change, deal with it.
So I can use something that hides my actual IP address, post an anonymous comment that is deeemed libelous and sit back while the blog/site owner takes the rap for it... cooooolio!
These people really piss me off, if you don't like what you see on the internet don't friggin' go looking for it. Stop being offended on behalf of others who, probably, would rather wank themselves to death than spend 5 minutes listening to the drivel spouted by these "Christians".
What does that prove? That ICE haven't shut down Google even though it seems to be the NUMBER ONE infringment facilitating search engine on the planet?
The dirt is that the twitter account is served by 1st line support staff at the very best... and he is trying to find a way to get straight thru the jungle of expert systems and tiered support lines to talk to someone that will actually understand what he has to say.
Same ol' lines... Who's having their property stolen? They may have had their rights infringed but they aren't missing a DVD or Bluray disc, or a CD are they? Regarding the "closely aligned opinion" of the "Industry" and the "ISPs" can you explain then why AFACT LOST after they took iiNet to court? Hardly singing from the same hymn sheet when one of the ISPs sticks up it's middle finger and tells AFACT to fuck off.
In the UK you won't have to pay if you have a private party, as long as you don't charge an entry fee or invite too many people "too many" is a number decided by PPL or PRS when they decide to take you to court.
If you leave your radio on really loud in your flat above your restaurant then you are liable and would need to pay PPL and PRS.
I love it, there is an advert running for CapitalFM (a London radio station) where the Black Eyes Peas and Rihanna both talk about the role radio plays in sales..
Rihanna @ 00:38, "The middle man between me and my fans is the radio".
Will.I.Am @ 00:41, "Without the radio a hit would not be a hit".
Seems the artists realise what the collection companies don't.
