I hereby disavow any connection to PR firm Burson-Marsteller. May the record show that I deplore dishonest public relations and dishonest marketing. Digging dirt for hire is not the job of any honorable company.
I hope they go out of business or, at least, change their name to escape the bad PR. That would be ironic.
Obviously it's so they can say the NSLs were crucial to catch whatever number of terrorists turn up from this, to use in their argument for why NSLs are necessary to fight terrorism.
When will we reach the point that we give up and let the system destroy itself? I just wish there were a sane place to go to. Maybe we can set up a technologically-friendly paradise in a hidden valley somewhere, since all the other countries seem to be just as self-destructive as ours.
I suppose a joke isn't funny if you have to explain it. Oh well.
They did call them "rogue" operators. A common mistake (on the internet, at least) is to write "rouge" instead. I was mocking the people who write about "rouge" websites.
I agree. The only "synergies" I can see are related to Microsoft's Windows Phone business. If they make Skype integration a tightly-integrated feature, and default to data calling instead of carrier calling, they could have a major impact on the cell phone market. Or maybe they just want to make a Google Voice competitor.
If they're looking to pay for road maintenance, make the fee based on the weight of the car. That's what really contributes to road wear, so why not charge in direct proportion to the cost of repairs?
If you want to actually incentivize hybrids, give them a credit on their registration or excise tax or whatever the state or town does.
Make it all transparent, not hidden, costs. Is that too much to ask?
Let's all go start our own artists label co-op with our own capital! Surely there isn't anything that a label provides that's actually useful to the artist, and all the people at the top do is make money off the lowly artists or office peons without contributing anything important to the company! Who needs direction anyway?
I'm sorry, when I see or hear "fat cats" I immediately discount what the person says. Perhaps you don't deserve that, in which case I'm sorry.
I would never have expected money to go to the artists. The artists weren't hurt by file sharing; the labels were.

Persecution is if they're systematically mistreated.
