Not sure that Channel 4 UK would be all that cool with it, after all they have their own "Reality" (and I use that word loosely) TV show called Big Brother.
Re: No matter what Iran does, won't affect me as US gov't doing same.
First, they came for the Iranians but I didn't care because I didn't live in Iran.. and then my government had the bright idea "Well they are doing it.. so we can to!"
Usually contracts are entered and both sides agree to the terms. If one side suddenly up and changes the terms (Parlophone getting sold to another company) shouldn't that make the contract null and void or at the least force a review of terms with the new contract holder? In this instance I am going to have to side with the artists.
Hrm... so.. if it is property, the right to use such being granted by the Constitution, then that means the government can seize it via Eminent Domain.
"or seize a citizen's rights in property with due monetary compensation, but without the owner's consent. The property is taken either for government use or by delegation to third parties who will devote it to public or civic use or, in some cases, economic development."
Seize it, release it to the Library of Congress (third part) for dispersal to the Public Domain.
When that particular Intelligence department is forbidden by law to investigate their own citizens, then yes, there will be problems with the court case.
Of course not! Every Government employee is a fine upstanding, law abiding citizen! Nothing to worry about at all, no need to even make arrangements for audits or any such wasteful thing.
First step to getting US laws changed.. get another country to change theirs then yell and scream about how we need to meet our "International Obligations" and change our laws to mirror.
He thought it was funny that a murderer got 7 years, served 4, and payed half the fine he was originally given while someone up for possession charges (non violent even) gets a decade..
Maybe they are trying to pile up all the charges so that he will agree to a plea bargain (and get a slap on the wrist), which will likely include doing no more work for Demand Progress.
So.. the guy is negligent and gets fined 400 bucks. Yet the person who did the actual infringement and the supposed cause of the law existing, who outright admitted that she broke the law, got fined for half as much? That doesn't make much sense to me.
Huh? You didn't make much sense to me. I think what Glyn was trying to say, and what I feel also, is that it doesn't make much sense to fine the guy who didn't do the crime.. and then to give a LESSER fine to the person who actually committed the real wrongdoing (downloading zomg!).

The thing that really erks me about this is that Ustream basically says it was the Hugo Awards own fault. Had they gone with the "paid, ad-free, Pro Broadcasting" service they wouldn't have gotten nuked by a DRMbot. Even the DRMbots have to stand aside to the almighty dollar apparently.
They should stream it. If they are really serious about being more open and transparent then they should stream this meeting that has the potential to affect the lives of every Internet Citizen.
Well Apple and their iOS is unloading the YouTube app that comes preinstalled on an iPhone in the next version.. so no.. I guess they can't throttle YouTube when viewed through the app.
