Don't they know that innovation stifles short-term income? Not to mention the long-term profits from garnishing Mr. Guffey's income. What are they thinking?
Just to head off any arguments to the contrary let me tell you a brief story:
A guy once advertised in the classifieds that he was selling clothes dryers (plural) for $50 each. Several people thought this was absolutely the best thing they'd heard, so they sent him the money. A few days later they received, in the mail, a length of line and some clothes pins.
Let's just get to the heart of the matter, here. Whether you vote Dem or Rep, start paying attention to the people for whom you are voting. That way maybe...just maybe...we can get some good laws passed -- and bad ones removed -- without the legislators being so damned concerned with how much money their pet parrot's great-grandchicks are going to have.
Honestly asking: is there no law against this sort of action? If there is, the punishment needs to be something more like 50% of NET profits for the next 10 years go to the nearest public education system.
Deters corporations from doing this, and gives education a serious fund boost if there are convictions. Two birds and all that...
If these companies start invading people's privacy and get sued for millions of dollars FOR EACH OFFENSE, they'll go out of business.
That'll open the door again to the competition, thereby eliminating many of the monopolic (is that a word? It is now) strangleholds that cable companies have.
More to the point, you shouldn't ever be in a crosswalk without first making sure that no one is about to run the light, thereby physically endangering you.
hmmm a perspective few people outside of internet advertising have never considered...
Having frequented my fair share of sites, I know what you mean. The innumerable pop-up ads get frustrating. It's kind of like walking out of a video store with a movie that you want, and having a rep from another video store start trying to sell you on his/her video store.

1) "Discontinue TV service completely, Direct TV here I come." Direct TV is still TV so that argument makes no sense whatsoever.
2) "Don't need cablebox, can we say TIVO...."
You still need a box for TIVO so that argument makes no sense whatsoever.
3)"Rosie five brothers" WTF???????

Unfortunately for some of us, this wouldn't exactly do much to counteract the bill...

"copy written" is a two-word redundancy.
"Copyrighted" is the correct term.
