Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Finally, we'll answer the old question
As a practicing attorney, thank you. Too much lawyer bashing today.
Sum: The only thing we really have is our reputation and a computer. Computers are easily replaced.
I'll add that for nearly every bad-guy lawyer appearing on this site, there's a good-guy lawyer representing the other side, or several (Cue EFF, etc.)
Problem is, if you are already the subject of hatred, contempt, ridicule, and especially obloquy (love that one), then it's hard to show any damages. There's case law on that too. (I think it had something to do with a bookie or pimp not having a reputation that could be further harmed.)
... sue your fucking former record company for not compressing that horse-shit you called music enough - one can make out some of that awful ugly noise - despite the lowest known dynamic range on the planet.
Actually, compression/limiting removes dynamic range by removing spikes, so lack of compression would not contribute to Sweet's lack of dynamics.
It's more that they sucked anyway; on that I agree.
At some point, you have to wonder how much longer the FBI will allowed to keep staging bogus threats just in order to arrest people, while mostly ignoring people who are actually trying to pull off violent attacks within the country.
When they accidentally entrap the kid of some politician or his/her personal fundraiser/lobbyist.
When a judge starts asking questions of a witness at all, it often means the witness' side has been playing hide-the-ball, and it does not portend well for their case.
Some people are clamouring for e-books to be about a quarter of their current price, but does that mean four times as many people will buy the book? Not likely.
Well, actually, quite likely. Case in point from a few weeks ago, where dropping the price of Paulo Coelho books to .99 raised sales to between 4,000 and 6,500%.
This issue is lately on my front burner, having purchased some nice hardcovers for my wife, and finding that the ebook version for one is only $2 cheaper. Really? No crossover deal at the least?
Frankly, if it's not on my tablet, it ain't likely to be read by me. Guess I'll just wait until someone torrents it so I will have the opportunity to read that which I have already purchased.
By this logic, Yoko Ono would lose the rights to her name too -- having become a verb as well; i.e., "to Yoko," e.g. "She Yoko'd the band," to describe a girl who breaks up the group via feminine wiles.

SOP. Depersonalize the opposition. Yet, Mr. Levy was still nice enough to at least use his name, rather than "your client."
