If by "encourage investment in new products" they mean "You have to invest in new products because everything else will be caught up in that black hole known as Copyright" then yes I suppose it will promote new products... /sigh
You fiend! 10.8 trillion copies of The Great Gatsby! Think of the poor starving author who worked so long to create that recent work of modern storytelling, who you have just robbed of $$$ = 10.8million books * $9.99 per book!!!!
Isn't it obvious! I mean, if some politician up on capitol hill can easily point out what is and isn't an illegally operating site, why can't smarter people? There's no way the government would censor a site without a good reason, am I right?
Nope, that's not theft, what was stolen? That would be a case of copyright infringement, plagiarism, and all around not niceness.
Personally I would not ok with it (if it were my site in this case), but I would not go so far as to accuse them of theft! Because you see they didn't steal anything from me, they just copied it and claimed it as their own. And their are other ways to deal with that.
Re: Either way, I do think the overall idea of police filming themselves (and releasing that video) is a definite step in the right direction, and one that I hope other police departments start using.
Yeah, governing large groups of people is hard. And hey, the whole senate thing didn't work out too well for Rome, I say we go back to emperors, it'll be easier that way!
soooo, your saying it's OK to be secretive about a broad widely impacting laws ("diplomatic agreements" if that makes you feel better), because
1. It's too hard to be transparent
2. we'be always done it this way
...not very convincing
The point behind a "Representative Democracy" is to vote for people who will represent you and act in your best interest. If they are not acting in your interest, and doing it secretly so as not to face any consequences, then they are failing.
