Reminds me of the abortion debate. Just because a particular strategy works for you doesn't mean that doing something different (or even completely opposite) won't work. That's true of many business strategies... there is rarely just one way to do things.
I'm in Canada so I don't know, but can you guys declare your salary as a matter of National Security so you can't be taxed? It's funny how it's used like saying 'dibs on' something. Dibs on that information! It's mine you can't read it!
The sheer lack of ethic, intelligence and honesty that every single people involved in this ACTA thing just amazes me. These are actual people, knowingly doing really sketchy stuff, knowing that we know, too.
I mean, way to have no self-respect, guys.
On a good note, it's good seeing that good people are reporting it.
But okay, even if they finish that bill, what are the probability that it gets taken seriously in the US? What about Canada?
So if your monthly subscription for what you 'Flatter' is exactly the same as the amount you receive from your 'Flatter'ed products and services, and everyone 'Flatter' equally, then everything will cancel out, we achieve perfect 'communism' of sorts, and we can get rid of any 'currency'. Basically: Star Trek TNG.
Eh I can dream.
Seriously though, I'd love to see the idea take off. And what he said at the end was brilliant; I applauded.
Isn't the government supposed to be us, the people? Or is it a separate entity that can do whatever it wants? If so, what about subcontracting politics to third world countries? They'd almost feel MORE liable for their mistakes.
WikiLeaks is exposing information we're hiding from ourselves. 'National Security' is the mother of the all-encompassing political bull**** buzzword.
I just find it weird that some people actually waste their time on that sort of issue (nothing against reporting it of course). You'd think humanity has run out of problems to solve and has nothing better to do than arguing about trademark semantics.
I thought that this blog was all about highlighting companies making good decisions. Some making bad ones, sure, but still. Don't just say "that would never happen today". Just because it's not as likely to happen doesn't mean it would never happen.
And no I can't recall any particular examples, though I'm sure Mike could. Yes I'm too lazy to look them up and I admit it.
Well, I wasn't trying to prove Mike had it wrong. I was just saying... if we look at companies as not being necessarily evil, it would help them in becoming a little more human. After all, these companies are ran by people. So it's not the company that's evil, it's the people behind it; us.
Just a general thought. But like I said, yes, currently I agree how most companies/lawyers would just send a C&D.
