Re: Sheesh. It's not the phone, it's the "criminal activity".
Are you trolling or do you not understand? Civil asset forfeiture is not about catching criminals. It's about getting money. Money from criminals? Maybe, but there is a presumption of innocence until convicted by an impartial jury. At least that is what our Constitution says. This is about taking cash & property with no conviction. Good luck getting it back.
Of course I read the first article on this which provides a link to the Equifax site "...to see if your data was compromised..." I click the link, follow the instructions & say to my wife "my data was part of the hack!". Then I continue to read articles on this & tell her "no, it looks like they ALL people are getting referred to the data monitoring site".
Now this morning I read this posting & find that the site for checking of I'm a victim (which it doesn't) was not secure! These people monitor our credit! They hold all the cards & see all of our's as well! These people CAN'T make mistakes like this! It's inconceivable!
The clowns that run this outfit are too busy counting their money to do any kind of a decent job. Time to take their money back & fire them. They are not competent enough to be cashiers at Walmart.
Just this morning NPR had a rep from the Heritage Foundation on to talk about tax reform & tax cuts in general. Does that sound like Progressive radio to you? You really should give them a listen. They moved to the middle many years ago, before the U.S. invaded Afghanistan. Maybe long before that, I never thought of NPR as progressive radio.
That being said, the middle seems to be a drifting target to right. What I see as moderate you rebrad might see as far left.
As the the last election, people did not vote. As a result, the people lost.
We must be listening to something completely different. Or maybe you never actually listened to NPR. I've been listening for more years that I care to admit & I've never heard "clueless commentators of NPR giggle incessantly".
Re: Re: Waste of resources -- THIRD zombie! 50 comments in 6 years!
Long idle? So you know how often a user account logs on to Techdirt? Lurkers are not what you call Zombies. Techdirt is part of my start page & I read articles here almost daily. But rarely do I post.
But go ahead & believe what you like. You will no matter how much data you are shown.
Yea, maybe they could have handled it better but paying someone to moderate comments is a waste of resources. Moderate in that the SPAM has to be removed if nothing else. It is NPR, one of the last places one can listen to real journalism. They shouldn't have to deal with it.
Reading comments on most news sites are really a guilty pleasure (not so pleasant) of mine. It never ceases to amaze me what people claim to believe. Are they just Internet trolls or do they really believe the batshit crazy they post? Hard to say, but we now have a real Internet troll in the White House... so it must accomplishing it's goals. Amazing.
This is nothing but a tripling down of the Florida Model. You know, the one that gave Florida to Bush W back in 2000. Scrub the voter registration lists so people show up & can't vote. Make sure the lines are hours long so people can't vote.
This is not theoretical, it happened. I say tripling down because many states have already doubled down on the Florida Model. They just want to take it nation wide.
Once a show stops becoming "news" it gets cancelled. Ratings aside, HBO needs their shows to be in the news. It's all about subscriptions. So HBO is more than OK with this lawsuit.
Do you want to see a copy of my bill? It's currently $179 & will rise to $199 in a couple months. This after calling & begging, bullying, threatening to cancel since November.
No I can't get 100 Mbps, 50 Mbps is all they are offering me & testing shows I rarely get over 25 Mbps. AT&T Uverse is what I have now, 20 Mbps (& I am getting it), more channels, HBO & Cinimax (only HBO with Comcrap). AT&T is just as evil but at least I'm paying them less.
Now the rest of your post is pure rambling garbage & shows you have zero credibility. I really am wasting my time responding.
Ok yes, I am cancelling Comcast today. When they raise their price from $139.00 (to high already IMO) to $199.00 & want me to sign on for 2 years to keep "that excellent deal.." it's time for a change.
Luckily I can change. But to AT&T, another evil empire. However, this is $120 a month going to $136.00 in 3 months, 2 year agreement. Still it's too high but I am not ready to be a cable cutter just yet.
This, or something like this, is what the consumers need to do. Cancel. Go back & forth providers, fuck with them to no end. Keep it going, not a boycott, a consumer form of disobedience. This is something like this, we just need a leader! Make the SOPA blackout look like a Fireside Snuggle!
Samantha Bee is hilarious. As much I like Trevor Noah, she's shown she has the chops needed to host the Daily Show. I'm sure there is some regret at Comedy Central about it. It could very well be that she never wanted it.
What is good about these liberal comedy shows is they keep to real facts rather than fake news. Unlike some conservative comedy shows like Alex Jones (he is trying to be funny, right?) who seem to consistently use complete fabrications.
My wife & I are actually going to see John Oliver live at the Fox in Detroit us a couple weeks.
Reading these comments leaves me with little hope that there might be a way that facts, data, & the truth, would influence & change the beliefs of the voters. It really does not help that there are so many very popular outlets that feed the bullshit to no end. & their audience laps it up.
This is why the law exists: you can't be out there encouraging people to vote! Be sure to keep two eyes on those organizations that are out there trying to register folks. Be sure to purge the registration rolls a couple months before the election of possible felons & dead people. The name is the same or close enough, purge them! Make sure that people in certain precincts wait hours to vote because it's not our fault too many people showed up to vote. Oh & they GOTTA HAVE I.D. because there might be busloads of people moving from place to place to vote multiple times (but not one of them will rat them out). Never mind that replacing lost/stolen I.D. can be next to impossible now days without money & transportation.
Voter suppression is live & happening. They are doubling down on the Florida 2000 model.
It looks like I am the only one that needed to know exactly what these people are selling.
Yes, my wife & I have 3 cats & a dog. Any non-interactive pet toy gets my attention. I might even buy this one... but not off of eBay. It never ceases to amaze me how people can c&p a product from eBay, Craigslist, wherever, google it & find it someplace else cheaper(usually more legit).
... but I bet he never saw this coming. They get all that nice military equipment, they gotta use it!
"And they was using up all kinds of cop equipment that they had hanging around the police officer's station. They was taking plaster tire tracks, foot prints, dog smelling prints, and they took twenty seven eight-by-ten color glossy photographs with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explaining what each one was to be used as evidence against us."
Bah. Buzzkill. You just blew my stuck-in-traffic daydreams! You know, when you imagine quickly rising vertically, then accelerating quickly in the general direction of home...
I admit there's always been a low level of believablity.
