Reading things like this makes me glad my children are all older, because if they weren't they would not be attending public schools. This type of behavior from our schools & police is completely unacceptable and I can't believe it's allowed to continue.
I suppose it's just another step in assimilating our society into conformity. I've long worried that schools are teaching children to conform rather to then to love learning.

Honestly I would do it but I don't know how to code from scratch, I'm more of code hacker....lol. But I would definitely love to see somebody pick up the idea.
You know we should create a website that allows users to google the name of a movie or t.v. show and then takes a screenshot of the search results. Then we have the screenshots sent to (insert representative name here).
We should then proceed to advertise this in every way possible and have as many people as we can bombard (insert representative name here) with those screenshots along with some text explaining how they are full of it.
Perhaps I am acquainted with it and chose to exercise it in my reply.
That being said, this website is not the United States, it's privately owned and the concept of free speech does not apply here. The only comments allowed are those the techdirt staff deem appropriate. Should they choose to remove them then they have that right.
That is completely asinine. Most of the articles of seen about this kind of thing have have been at the hands of male police officers. Take your misogynistic BS somewhere else.
Sadly this is nothing new. People who always claim to be doing something "for the children" almost always seem to have ulterior motives.
People are strange when it comes to children & their rights. Like when it comes to charging children as adults. Everyone wants to tell these children they have no rights other than what their parents/guardians give them because they are children, and there is no recourse otherwise. Until they do something wrong, then all the sudden it's "Well they were old enough to know better". The whole method of dealing with children thus far really is very backwards and in most cases instead of bettering the child/children's situations it only serves to make things worse.
All the people who we know as criminals are dumb that's how they get caught because they are dumb. It's smart ones you never hear about because smart criminals don't get caught.
This too is my concern. By all accounts carter was a pretty good 18year old. He actually had a job (and as the mother of a 19 year old believe me when I say that in itself is accomplishment lol). But now that this has happened, even if the charges are dropped. What kind of a person will be when/if he is released. Will he still become a contributing member of society or will be end up depressed and "medicated" or possibly even worse, angry and next actually do something to hurt people. What a horrible place we live in when we are possibly creating our monsters...
If people want to look at porn in public, the best deterrent is embarrassment of getting caught, and in some cases even that might not work. (ever heard of Exhibitionists?) Honestly I don't think its such a big deal that tax dollars need to be wasted on it.
I started smoking not because of Joe camel, Not because of the displays behind the counter, not because of the fact that I saw advertisements for them. It was because my girlfriend had a cigarette and she looked cool smoking in my 12 year old mind. The can pass all the laws they want, put out disgusting images, and everything else. The fact is some dumb kid is still going to think that smoking is cool because they see other people doing it. Kids get crazy ideas in their heads it's why we call them kids, because they haven't learned common sense yet. Then some other kid is going to see that kid and think "Wow they look cool and I want them to think I'm cool, so I'll smoke too". The bullshit nanny laws won't get people anywhere.
If Anti-smokers really gave a rats ass about the health of smokers they would all be doing their very best to find out why electronic cigarette's have a much higher success rate at helping people quit smoking, when their current NRT's have such an appalling failure rate. Instead they are fighting e-ciggs as well with this whole quit or die mentality.
No, nothing you inhale other then air is going to be 100% good for you, but at least with e-ciggs there is no second hand anything so others aren't put in danger by it's use. Also Electronic Cigarettes have thousands less chemicals in them than a regular cigarette's and while they might contain nicotine, most people are surprised to learn that nicotine is one of the least harmful chemicals in cigarette's. As a matter of fact Nicotine is found naturally in Eggplant, Green Tomatoes, Cauliflower, and potatoes.
Packaging does not change the cool, or not cool factor. It's act of smoking, nobody cares what package it comes in. I mean seriously are people really that naive that they think it's because of the packages?
My children are all older now, but if I was to have another there is no way in Hell It would ever see the inside of a public school in the U.S. To much politics, and not enough learning.
As soon as my tax refund comes in I'm paying my early termination fee & dropping Verizon then I'm going back to prepaid. Technically I don't have to continue paying anything and could drop at anytime since the plan is in my mom's name, but I won't dog my own mother that way. Anyway, I'm totally done with contract phones from here on out.
We could really cut down on those numbers if the FDA would quit fighting against Electronic cigarettes. The FDA took the makers to court and lost, because they wanted to claim they were drug delivery devices. Which is quite silly because if that were the case than so are regular cigarettes.
The industry wants regulation but they refuse to so, instead they are fighting against it because by having people quit smoking it cuts into the profits of big pharma and a few other large entities profits.
