I worked for Nokia Mobile Phones (now Microsoft Devices), and I typically carry around 4 cell phones (or more) at any time. 1 for work, 1 for backup, 1 or more test phones, and my personal Android phone that Google gave me. So what does that make me? A terrorist?
I'm sure that by now Barbara has truly regretted her original action that has for now, and for ever, linked her name with stupid internet actions! This pinhead will be a nice sub-chapter in that book!
I cannot stand without walking for more than a little while due to a back injury suffered many years ago. I prefer a chair with good lumbar support, such as an Aeron.
I love Sue, but this is the other kind. I hope this kid and his family sues the school, school district, the officer involved, the police department, the city, and the judge who found him "guilty", and gets a gazillion $$ in compensation for their total stupidity! The citizens of the town deserve the cost because they either elected or hired the "officials" in question.
Well, it seems that the first thing that you lose when you get older is your sense of humor. I guess that means that although I was born in 1948, I still have a mental age of 17 (or is that 2)... Some of us age more "gracefully" than others. :-)
The US Congress, Senate, and Supreme Court today are like cockroaches in that when you shine a light on them, the scurry under the counter so you can't see what they are doing to poison your food and environment...
I've been a big fan of Lehrer since I can remember - the early 1960's for sure! From "The Vatican Rag" (seems appropriate as we approach the Easter holidays):
Time to get down on your knees. Fiddle with your rosaries. Bow your head with great respect, And genuflect, genuflect, genuflect. We're doing the Vatican rag!
Besides a great songwriter and performer, he is also a mathematician and teacher.
Much like what Queen Elizabeth the First would do when someone "royally" pissed her off, I fully expect this bonehead Erdogan to shout from the top of the presidential palace "Off with their heads!"...
She killed off these life forms for a reason - like to give us a chance. And she will probably kill us off as well to give the next candidate for king of the earth a chance to do better / smarter than us... Generally, evolution is a slow process, but sometimes change is mind-numbingly quick!
My father was a colleague and good friend of Feynman in the 1940's - he was my babysitter when I was a little baby... I inherited from my father a set of his lecture notes with hand-written notes/comments in the margins, and dedicated to my father. Can I publish them? They are mine by inheritance, and the chain of ownership is clear...
FWIW, I did purchase around 2000 both of Feynman's "Six Easy Pieces" and "Six Not So Easy Pieces" in book/CD format. A great way to spend a bit of time driving to work (with the audio version at least)!
