No, I'm not making the assumption that govt spending = more jobs. I'm saying govt spending = job cuts, and loss of govt contracts.
The rest of your argument is just as bad. The reason that they can't pay their debts is because they lost their tax base-because the economy tanked-because the private sector played games with loans. Plus, during the only time we had a situation like this, creating expendable low-wage jobs is EXACTLY what the govt did, and it worked.
It's just like I said. There is NO REASON to cut spending now.

Yeah, not voting for incumbents worked SOOOO well last time. Now the freaky Tea Party thinks that they were given a mandate from the people to go through with their weird ideas, rather than realizing that it was a call to get America back to work.
How the F**K is cutting government spending good for creating jobs? Could someone please explain how these cuts are necessary now and can't wait until unemployment gets under, say, 8%?
It seems like the government is cutting when it should be spending. But what do I know, I'm a coder, not an economist. Anyone know an economist? ;)
"KV has defended Makenas price, saying the company had spent more than $200 million to develop the drug"
Develop? Does this mean marketing, or kickbacks to the FDA?
"Because the drug must be given for about 20 weeks, Makena would cost about $30,000 for each at-risk pregnancy, which could add more than $4 billion to the nations health-care bill."
Oh, goody. We aren't spending enough on health-care as it is.
"KVs stock price fell more than 20 percent Wednesday."
Lovely to know that so many investors would be looking to benefit from overpricing drugs used to help babies. They didn't dump the stock until after they fould out the FDA wouldn't go after other producers. Nice.
The US rebelled from England for a lack of rights.
Then we created a Constitution to protect our rights.
And we have since been modeling our laws after England and the UK, slowly eroding those rights.
I think this model should be named, "pay more if you want", since "pay what you want as long as it's more than this amount" is kind of long and tedious.
Read this, and note what she says about not building a factory. http://www.wired.com/magazine/2011/03/ff_adafruit/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm _campaign=Feed%3A+wired%2Findex+%28Wired%3A+Index+3+%28Top+Stories+2%29%29
I have seen this opinion mirrored in many places. Apparently, the US and other "innovative" countries will design and prototype the worlds products, while other countries will manufacture them. Wow! Aren't we lucky we're a creative and innovative country?
But wait! What's to stop the manufacturing companies from stealing the designs and using them without paying us? We know there's no way that any other country can beat us at smart design innovation, so we need to beef up all intellectual property laws everywhere so that the new Golden Age can occur!
This is great for creatives, but what about all the hard workers? You know, the ones who worked the lines, built the bridges and skyscrapers? What's that name for them, oh yeah, the MIDDLE CLASS? I guess they just need to move to one of the manufacturing countries, because there's no non-creative jobs here! Well, actually, I'll pay you a dollar to mow my lawn, then you can go!
Please, someone tell me I'm being paranoid, and that I should put my tin-foil hat back on and STFU. Please.
No, I would have to say I don't see that. If they refered to us as "Sharing Maximalists" or "Free Maximalists" or "Copyright Minimalists", I really don't see or feel any slight or insult. I can't say the same for "freetard". I also don't understand how "copyright maximalist" could be considered innacurate, as the laws on the books have been shown by multiple studies to be far beyond what is required or even effective for the stated purpose of copyright, which is to "To promote the Progress of Science and useful Arts." I guess, to make things even more PC, we should describe the other group as "Those Who Consider Current Intellectual Property Protections Inadequate."
In answer to the question about sharing, simple logic. An elephant is an elephant if it's gray or blue. Saying, "Don't call it an elephant if it's gray, only if it's blue" doesn't make any sense, and I think you can see this. Sharing is sharing, whether it is infringing or no.
I applaud your effort to find common ground with Those Who Consider Current Intellectual Property Protections Inadequate. But ya gotta make sense, dude.
Nope, totally wrong. No, I'm not saying that I disagree with you, I'm saying your logic is flawed. "Sharing" is neutral, as many files are shared legitimately. Take a look at the gigs of files on Archive.org for starters, and they have begun to use bittorent.
"Infringement" and "Theft" are both laws that are broken. "Infringement" can occur during "sharing", but "theft" cannot. If a person has a picture sitting near their window, and I take a photo of it, is it "theft"? No, certainly not. It may or may not be "infringement", depending on if it was a picture of Elvis or the Mona Lisa, but it would only be "theft" if I actually reached in the window and took the picture.
The fact is, using the term "sharing" is accurate, while "theft" is actually a form of propaganda, as is "freetard" and whatever other names you care to use. These terms have derogatory connotations on an emotional, rather than rational, level.
One of the ways I can judge that I am on the right side of this arguement is, when dealing with the other side as a whole, the term is "copyright maximalist." I don't see any negativity, emotional or otherwise, in that term.
Re: Re: There have been very few improvements in the theater experience
That's the "community experience"! What other time would you talk to your next-door neighbor, but in the middle of a crowded theater? That's what everyone goes to the theater for. Community!
On a side note, I can't believe the condition of the theaters in my area. They are always filthy, and I'm always sticking to things. Plus, the chairs reek. I actually worked at a theater when I was in high school, and we had to sweep AND mop theaters in between rushes. (That's what you called them, 'cause all of the movies started within 30 minutes of each other.)

Effects of patents on innovation
The only problem is, it's patented by Xerox until at least 2016. So the only software using it is HP Openview and some European academic projects.
See, patents foster innovation! Just like the Obama administration fosters transparancy, and government cuts foster job creation.
