actually the no school funded sports also might've made a difference. Instead of spending so much on school sports, they're spending it on academics and teachers.
I had to take the Florida FCAT... man was that a joke. I remember one article in the "science" section that insisted that arachnids were bugs that had "six legs and an exoskeleton" :P
The FCAT was modeled after the Texas TCAT, which Texas realized was awful and went back to national standardized tests. But for some reason it was just fine for Florida? Not to mention the fact that Florida keeps lowering the bar on the science and math sections so more students can "pass".
Another problem with the "$2 to $3 a month" plan is that it assumes that everyone who uses the internet either pirate content or use content from the major "copyright holders", this would clearly punish perfectly innocent users or those who don't use content from the major copyright holders. Why should I pay for something I don't use or gain benefit from?
No the RIAA is NOT the music industry, they are the RECORD industry, the RIAA likes to think that they do represent the music industry when they do not. I never ever said that they did represent the majority of the music industry. They may have at one time in the past but now the record industry is dying out and is the "wounded tiger". Just because someone else said something about the RIAA representing the majority of the music industry, but they weren't me and they are wrong.
But the problem is that they are "supporting" the artists rights by taking away the rights of others, why does one take precedence over the other? And I don't mean all copyright is outright evil, just copyright as it stands today, way too long and overreaching, and constantly being retroactively extended.
You misunderstand. By "adapt" I mean artists who succeed in getting their fans to actually buy their music while ignoring the scrubs who wouldn't have bought their music in the first place if it wasn't free. Their are plenty of artist who do it without treating all their fans like they are pirates, or trying to ruin the internet. Let me spell it out so even you can understand, I'd rather see the internet stay free than see it corrupted with laws brought about by an industry that won't "adapt", meaning they won't solve their own problems and would ruin everyone else's day because of it.
As I keep saying. The record companies represented by the RIAA are not the majority. So stop lumping them together.
And as I keep saying, "Great! someone go tell the RIAA that!"
The commenter above you never even equated RIAA to the majority. In fact he stated the opposite. The RIAA is a "wounded tiger" a dying industry.
So your saying "sure, I will prove that all the industries claims are true"?
There's already a thread above to discuss why copyright is stifling creativity, this thread is for discussing the validity of the music industries claims. Well, I'm waiting...
