That thing where humans should demand actual facts & studies that have been vetted before accepting them as true.
The first humans were terrified of the night & the horrors they imagined lurked within... not much has changed. Even now in brightly lit stores surrounded by other people, someone assumes something else means them harm. Rather than report that harm at the time, they flee to town square and tell a much more embellished story, high lighting those little xenophobic touches required, of how THEY were selected to be a trafficked to a foriegn prince (because they would never end up strung out on drugs working a corner) & they managed to escape that horrible fate because they knew what to look for & that seeking help at the time might have exposed them of being in a fantasy world.

Heh just heard a talking head on TV talking about how Amazon is stealing ideas and promoting their own knockoffs ahead of the people who made them originally... blah blah blah ... And if they broke these corporations up into smaller units it could add more competition and better prices for consumers.
You can pluck out Amazon/Google/Etc. and insert cable/telcos/cell providers & suddenly that idea seems completely crazy.

Re: Qualified Immunity
A man was boiled to death for having spread excrement in his cell. They put it under a microscope & decided no charges needed to be filed. Can you explain to the class how murdering someone by boiling is a justifiable response to the facts?
Perhaps the million lawsuits blooming would not bloom so much if the courts hadn't ruled that forcing a woman on the side of the road to strip and have a body cavity search as others continued to drive by wasn't a rights violation because no court had ruled that forcing a detainee to strip in public and allow opposite sex officers to check her vagina in full view of others wasn't a clearly established right.
Perhaps providing blanket coverage to all the apples allows those few bad ones, they keep claiming are a small portion that they can't manage to do anything about, violate peoples rights in larger & larger ways with impunity because protecting all cops means we have to protect the rapists, abusers, murderers who happen to have a badge.
Cops are often given a QI pass because they didn't know the law they claimed to be enforcing, when is the last time a citizen was able to inform a court well I didn't know that law so I get to walk away right?
But instead of seeing QI as something that is being abused as an insult to citizens you seem to care more that the "hordes" (read darkies) who want to take the police down in anyway possible.
Perhaps that says more about your inability to see people as anything other than a monolithic stereotype, rather than the hard work of judging people on their own actions & merits.
Policing is a difficult job because people demand more and more but at lower costs. The "few bad apples" can't be rooted out because the Union contract allows them to put those found unfit to serve back on the job with backpay. We can't have any rational discussion because the magical refrain of "not all cops" clouding the issue that some cops shouldn't be cops & should be in jail. That the blue wall protects the image of cops, and also protects those cops who are the ones harming the image of cops by lying, cheating, stealing, raping, murdering.
Gee if only there were some sort of cameras officers could wear that could record the entire interaction, they would want to have one all the time they were on duty so that there was an unblinking record of what "really" happens & how they did nothing wrong. Instead some departments have wasted millions repairing these systems after they 'magically' get broken & fail then fail & magically get broken after they are repaired so that there is no possible record to challenge the officers narrative of why he had to shoot that young man in the head for having walked in the wrong park.
"second-guessed by a judge and jury"
Funny... thats actually how the legal system works for everyone else, why should cops be a protected group who can never be questioned? I mean its like you haven't seen any of the footage from cell phones recording cops putting senior citizens in the hospital for DARING to exercise his right to peacefully protest.
But do go own...
Its fun watching people who think it never happens because it's never happened to them or those they love... cause eventually your number will come up & you will be so very pissed that no one did anything to stop ot from reaching that point.

Maybe ask the Dept. of Education to submit a brief about how the school board no longer has standing since they are about to sued out of existence for their complete failure of their duties to protect student information.
Again its one of those rulings that should generate a review to see if the Judge is brain damaged or not.
The moms cared more about protecting the students then that school board did, yet are being punished for the school board caviler attitude.
And just because, someone might want to FOIA the names of everyone who has had an answered FOIA request... this isn't going to be the first time someone cut corners.

Someone needs to make up some visual aids showing how the service stayed the same or got worse after every single dollar from the government.
Then force the politician into a corner to admit that it appears tax payer dollars were wasted or that he's in the pocket of the companies.

"The city's claim is that the speakers St. Michael's is inviting have a history of inciting violence."
The Vatican has a history of inciting violence as well was my point.
The 1st Amendment says they can't block the counter protest, but based on the 'reason' they offered the group they were protecting from being upset is just as shitty as the other group.
Trying to block the meeting for that 'reason' fails basic thought, as well as being a violation of the other groups right to shitty speaker choices.
If you are going to try to violate someones rights, at least apply your shitty reasoning equally, to avoid looking like the state wanted to protect a church groups feels & run afoul of an even bigger can of worms.

While Milo & the others are a waste of human flesh, IMHO, they still get to talk to people who think they have something to say.
If we want to talk about anticipating violence & bad things happening...
Catholics in Ireland were kind of shooty/bomby.
Milo, as far as I know, has never blown up clinics or shot Doctors/Nurses to stop something he disagreed with.
While Bannon MIGHT have dissolved someone in a hotel hottub, the jury is still out, the Catholics kept moving priests they KNEW were touchy feely sexy making on children to new parishes with no warnings.
How many unmarked graves are we up to on the Indian Schools grounds?
For has horrible as they claim the protestors might have been, they seem to be completely unaware of the documented actual bad things the other side has engaged in for a very long time.
I mean the only commonality I could come up with is I totes think that Milo would have misused funds to have a party with young men & party favors just like the Vatican's banker had been doing.
