I'm amused when people conflate secular with godless. I'm even more amused when people assume atheists must be bad because they don't believe in some deity. Mind you I didn't really grasp your comment intentions but it brought it to mind.
There's plenty of examples of people doing great atrocities in the name of some god. And plenty of examples of atheists and other "lesser" religion followers being much better persons than their Catholic/Protestant/Muslim colleagues. Heck, just look at the US and all the religious moralism.
All immigrants are criminals, rapists and generally bad people. - Says the government that persecute, torture people, separate families greatly traumatizing children, screw up people with mental disorders etc etc.
At least we, the government, are all pinnacles of moral and Christian values, no?
If you are going to regulate internet platforms then focus. There isn't any technical solution to *perfectly* filter user content that doesn't involve bankruptcy or dumbing down the web into some broadcaster so don't go that way. Focus on what's within reach like how they deal with information supplied to them, specially if it's not explicitly and actively done for instance.
Most of these guys wanting to regulate the internet are actually aiming at the end user while hitting the platform. It will inevitably go wrong like the FOSTAs and SESTAs of the world.
Or have the state manage the infra-structure and let other companies sell the service. If other telcos want to compete they can try but new yorkers would have an option to fall back to if the Comcasts of the world decide to crap on their services. Yeah, too communist. But it works.
I foresee incoherent ramblings regarding pirates and something something Masnick.
And now it occurred that we would probably have an audience if we made some movie, Psycho-style, featuring Mike dressed as a pirate stabbing some innocent music label or something. The image in my head is amusing.
I've already read stuff about drug use measuring through sewage sampling. What struck me is that drug usage is insanely high and I found myself asking why are people using so much drugs. How shitty our general lives have become that we, and I'm using we humans, are needing to resort to such means as relief to our daily lives.
Re: Huh? Chaos, artists NOT being paid, is what you pirates want!
It's rather telling that you are confronted with clear factual evidence that the music industry is ripping off artists and yet you go on an incoherent, facts free rant of how people rip off artists, TD is bad and you could write oh-so-awesome stuff.
At the very least it is good comedy and you manage to rack in some good replies every now and then.
"and software company SCO made the staggering claim that all Linux users are pirates. "
Obviously. They aren't giving their money for proprietary crap so they are effectively stealing. (the MAFFIA logic: you don't give us your money for no effort therefore it is theft)
