I think you missed the point of the comic that was being referenced. A LOT of piracy is because people CAN'T PAY for it but can get it FREE.
I'm sorry but it is stupid for you to not sell your product because you are trying to crate an artificial demand. If the product is worth having then demand is there. A lot of people will choose to pay instead of pirate but when given option of pirate or nothing then well....
Truly a very fine point. Sony wouldn't want to help clear up any of the clouds around fair use now would they. If they try to claim fair use in this case then it makes it hard for them to sue over stupid things like this in the future.
When I see things like this I find myself just hoping it is someone suing just to make a point of how stupid the system is. I know if I had the money I would spend all my time finding little things like this to sue the trolls with. If for no other reason than to waste their lawyers time defending pointless lawsuits.
You know, give them a taste of what they love giving everyone else.
Any kind of revolutionary force could be labeled as terrorist. For that matter any political party could be. Of course this would never ever be abused.
I'm getting so very sick of the way the world governments are headed.
Might I take this moment to point out that I am sure England thought the actions of the colonials organizing and forming the USA about the same as "terrorist actions".
The ENTIRE point of having freedom of speech is that you are allowed to speak ill of the government. That is why it was put into the US constitution.
I recognize this is particular post is not talking of the US but I am not as familiar with European laws in that regard. The main point though is that those in power are trying to take away peoples right to talk negatively about them. They are doing this simply by pointing at the boogie man in the corner they are calling "terrorists".
I for one have ZERO fear of these "terrorists". They have proven to be relativity stupid and of little real threat. I AM AFRAID of what the GOVERNMENT is doing.
The actions of the terrorists do not in any way affect my day to day life. Even if we dropped all security these guys well over half the time get caught because they can't get their bomb to detonate. We are talking about something a damn USA high school student would have no trouble with. That is a very LOW standard.
The government on the other hand does greatly affect the day to day lives of everyone. Especially here in the US where you have to be sexually molested in order to get on a plane.
Re: Gotta look at this from the point of the FBI Agents
That also explains why she would get linked to all these other random groups. I mean you got couple board guys writing up a report and figure, "Hey we had better spice this up a little bit so doesn't look like we were totally useless."
So I guess if they slip up again and don't turn themselves over to prosecution then those who are prosecuted can just use that in their defense. Makes perfect sense to me.
I still question when they are going to ban children. That lady with the baby screaming and throwing cheerios at her is just as distracted if not more so than I am when I am talking on a phone.
I would also like to take this moment to say that GoDaddy is a company. Freedom of speech is given to the citizens not to companies. So even if we do go with your twisted logic the voice of the CITIZENS should outweigh that of a company.
You idiots really need to learn what free speech is. It is not "Free from consequences".
Free speech is the freedom to say whatever you would like to say without being censored. No one censored GoDaddy. Other people voiced their opinion opposite of GoDaddy and GoDaddy had to accept the consequence of going against the wishes of their customers.
SOPA on the other hand wanted to have the power to shut down web pages. This was taking away the persons ability to speak. That is a lot different than what happened to GoDaddy. No on shut down GoDaddy's homepage or told them they could not express their opinion.
The Smithsonian has a long history of doing this kind of thing. They are terrible at being historically accurate. They much prefer to just try and change history to fit their story. I found that out years ago when researching Tesla. I found a site created by a very angry history teacher who informed them of their errors in giving credit for several of Tesla's inventions to Edison.
"If it wasn't for the filthy pirates then the record companies would have enough money to pay their artists. All of this is the fault of the filthy pirates!"
This is awesome, I really hope he goes after them for everything they owe him and more. Maybe we will get lucky and other artists will follow his example.
These moronic companies cannot hope to survive if they try to sue customers, bribe politicians, and defend themselves from paying artists. With artists tieing up their lawyers and large sums of money maybe they will be forced to drop some of these stupid laws.
Whats really bad is how stupid they are with the DRMs on things such as Bluray. I recently make the descision I was going to go all legit. So I installed the new Ubuntu linux and was all happy. Then I try to play DVD, well that did not work until getting special stuff to decryt it. That even had warnings about how it might be illegal. Illegal to watch a video on linux?
So then little later I pull out a Bluray and try to play it. Well no luck with that so I go to trusty Google. I quickly find a page telling me how to play a Bluray. They explain how it is tricky because of DRM and then go on to explain that the EASY way is to RIP IT TO YOUR HARD DRIVE. So it is EASIER TO COPY the damn bluray then it is to PLAY it.
The roadways in the US are used every day to transport drugs, illegal weapons, as well as people taken against their will. It is used all the time by criminals to get to and from their crimes and safehouses. They do this by blending in with the regular people.
Are you really going to use the argument that it is too big to check everyone as they go from place to place! Think of the women and children!
