"Also in 1999, we held a contest to come up with a tagline for Techdirt. As far as I know, none were adopted, but there are some interesting ideas in the comments — maybe it's time to reopen the subject?"
“ISIL is a group that routinely crucifies and beheads people,” a U.S. official, using one of the acronyms for the militant group. “To suggest that there is any correlation between ISIL’s brutality and past U.S. actions is ridiculous and feeds into their twisted propaganda.”

I live in the Dallas area and I had Aereo, while it was in business, because I can not pick up OTA TV. Roamio will do nothing for me because I have no signal available to record.
Right or wrong, I believe it was right, Aereo was a good solution for me.
Techdirt posts articles on subjects that are important to me, and I find information here that is hard to find elsewhere. As I have mentioned before, I followed Groklaw for years. PJ was big on privacy- that is why the site is now stagnant. I started reading Techdirt way before Groklaw shut down; Techdirt is my number one site now.
I lurk far more often than I comment. I comment if I think I have something I feel I must say. I read most of the comments, as I enjoy the comments as much as the articles.
For some sad reason, I find a lot of people are unaware of the issues followed here at Techdirt. Keep up the good fight.
I mostly lurk, not comment, here. I have been leaning toward contributing, but haven't until now. The candor of this article by Jennifer Hoelzer put me over the top.
Mike Masnick, all the staff and contributors, and Techdirt have been a part of my daily routine for quite a while. I almost fell out of my chair when Groklaw went dark. Techdirt helped fill the void.
I could only contribute $5 a month but at least I did contribute. This Net Neutrality Battle has to be won by us- We the people, not Them the Corporations.
And if copyright maximalists were practicing their trade, what would have happened to all the "Variations on a Theme by..." written. Attribution only would have never been enough.
I gave too.I have donated 3 times. I believe in Larry Lessing. I believe in his cause. Have you naysayers never heard the man speak? He is awesome. As I have said before, Larry Lessing is a man to be trusted.
You all have the choice of doing nothing or doing something. I choose something over nothing every time. I firmly believe this country is approaching a crossroad of epic proportion and I choose to help decide which direction we will be going. For far too long I have accepted what the powers that be have doled out while lining their pockets at my expense. In my opinion this country is an oligarchy.
Most of the money donated to MAYDAYPac will not be collected unless the goal is met or the donor chooses to donate anyway. If you are happy with the status quo, do nothing. If you are the status quo, troll the forums.
I, for one, have had enough surveillance, income equality, bad Supreme Court decisions, and secret courts making secret laws. I support Larry Lessing and you should too.
What right does any manufacturing group have to try and dictate public policy of foreign governments? Oh, wait, the USG, all three branches, have expanded the roles of commercial interests in influencing public policy. I'm sure this will work out fine.
It seems the train has already left the station and I am on the back of the train.
In other news, the head of Human Resources at Walmart has been nominated for the head of the Labor Department, And the CEO of Monsanto has been appointed Agriculture Secretary. All kidding aside, what the hell is wrong with these people!
