I sell on Ebay, even had a nice little business going for a bit. I have moved on to other things since then tough. I have respect for the people who turn it into a big business, takes a lot of work. What I found using Ebay is that it depends on the product. Most common or used item will won't sell for a decent price on Ebay unless they are high dollar items to begin with, are rare items that collectors want, or are new items in a box (still have to be higher dollars items to get a good price).
No complaint, really. I am a regular reader, just making an observation is all. I enjoy this site thoroughly. I Hope they have a great weekend off every weekend. I understand it is a job not a blog. As for my own blog, I post things I find interesting when I find them. sometimes I actually write an article or two as well. I do not post often because most of what I read has been posted at many other places.
So, I formally apologize to everyone who had to read my observation/complaint earlier. I did not mean any disrespect to this site, it's employees, or it's readers.
You ever wonder why this site has no new articles on weekends? After all the Internet is offered in these peoples homes too. I am not saying work all weekend. But, news happens during the weekend too and you would think Mike or one of the others might take the time from home, maybe first thing mornings or last thing at night on weekends to post a short post about weekend things. Wouldn't take more than half an hour or so I would think...
Than again, doing something on weekends that you do all week at work sux so I do understand, I just think a devoted blogger would post no matter the time or day.
If those tax dollars had not been wasted there, they would have been wasted elsewhere... Our government is all about paying 10X (at least) more than what anything is worth, why should the FBI be any different. After all, half (or more) of the government contractors are scam artists that should be investigated by the FBI, oh wait, they have no computer systems, never-mind.
Bah, nothing new there. The MPAA is all about control and profits. Let's hope the keep on the same road they are on, they will implode in a few more years, or the pirates will put them out of business(so they claim).
Bah, let's post another article to scare the uneducated on the net. Nothing wrong with gadgets, so long as you know where they are from, what they do, and how they are used. Just make sure they are from reputable people. Most gadgets are nothing but javascript or xml wrapped in javascript, a look through the code can show you hidden things, it is not rocket science. If you can't look through the code, perhaps you should pay someone to make your website who can look through it.
Well, there goes all those educated discussions everyone was having, such a great day for intelligent conversation on TechDirt too. All the FU's and up yours, I do not know what I will read now. The last conversation had something to do with Captain Patent....
"Don't forget that millions of United States consumers help support China by purchasing billions of dollars worth of imported Chinese products."
Kind of hard not to support China since most American companies go to China to get things manufactured. If I could boycott Chinese products I would. Being realistic though, I am not rich, I can't afford to boycott Chinese made products.
Jack does this stuff for Jack. I think a cease and desist letter in is order for Jack. His antics are insulting to parents and he should definitely be dis-barred for being an idiot, if that is a valid reason, if not one needs to be found.
Oh yeah. The reason companies like Microsoft make statements like "Microsoft warned that multi-player online games have significant security vulnerabilities, and that the growing value of in game assets was a juicy target for criminals." is because most of the property they sell to people is intellectual/virtual property, nothing physical to it. The more they blur the line between each, the more monetary value they create for their products. Kind of like a reverse supply and demand, supply the problem and demand the government/law/etc fix it. The more laws in place to protect their intellectual/virtual properties, the more money users are willing to spend, knowing if something does go wrong, the law, not some game company, will step in to fix it. Just an opinion, on to the next post.
Think I need to get a Trade Mark on Captain Patent? He could teach kids the value of being a patent troll, to sue companies many years after they start turning profits for patent infringement, and how to make the Patent Office approve worthless patents (though the Patent Office needs no real help with that).
The difference in what Microsoft does with it's Genuine Windows Program and what Movieland.com are 2 totally different things. If you are running pirated software you deserve some annoying pop-up telling you to pay for it. If something is installed without your permission and wrecks your computer, you should not have to pay to get it removed. In fact, as mentioned in the article, that is a crime called extortion. If I were one of the users of Movieland.com software, I would have sued. Maybe even press extortion charges on them.
Blah. SL is a place to pimp yourself out, what is new in this story? Businesses moving online and using it to enhance their brick and morter places? Blah. Nothing exciting here.
Lucas,
I gotta say your point is invalid to an extent but does bring to mind some things. I am all for this, homebrew software and games on a modded Xbox rock, so it goes without saying on the 360 they would kick a$$. I also think, no proof, that Bill let the mod community stand so he could take the ideas of the homebrew scene and apply it to the Xbox 360. Many of the features available on the 360 were done first and sometimes better on a modded box. However, I do not think MS would outright steal any one's ideas on a community program they themselves run. It would cut their own throat, no one would stay around if MS took others work and made it their own. After all, this is not the day and age Bill took DOS, it is a much more paranoid society than it was then and people watch big corporations closely.
