Left wing subs don't get shuttered because they're very rarely problematic, they're not flooded with hate, slurs, calls for violence because their users know how to behave for the most part, and those users that don't get the boot. The closest left wing sub to the many toxic subs on the right was Chapo, and no tears were shed when that Tankie infested hellhole was quarantined then banned.
The Donald has been toxic for years, generating hate and brigading other subs, generally being a hellhole, so what changed to justify a ban? Simple, the mod team there had resisted all token efforts to stop them calling for violence and had the sub on lockdown in an attempt to drive the user base off to a site they control and profit from. The ban is meaningless, they've swept away the remains of a dead sub so it looks like a grand gesture, and people are lapping it up, ignoring that it's happened years after it should have and it wouldn't have happened at all if the sub were still active.
'The people banned were clearly not acting in good faith, unlike those poor, persecuted conservative voices banned from more popular platforms for hatespeech, harassment and active violations of the rules they agreed to when they signed up.'
"and then Donald Trump appeared and all the real Americans applauded and chased off all the Islamic marxist terrorist communist antifa supersoldiers who are the real racists and nazis. My girlfriend saw it, you wouldn't know her, she lives in Canada!'"
So a group with a LONG history of misleadingly editing videos to push their agenda and get innocent people fired in order to avoid the appearance of impropriety have claimed another scalp? Even if she was biased, she was A) In HR, not exactly in a position so set company policy and B) fired the moment it was brought to the attention of her superiors, not exactly proof of some grand anticonservative conspiracy. This isn't about removing bias, this is about kicking and screaming until right wing voices are prioritised and given an exemption on following the rules that everyone agreed to when they signed up.
The thing that amuses me about all this, is groups like Veritarse are attacking a company that is very much on their side. Thiel is very much on team Trump, as is Zuckerberg, who's had off the record meetings with Trump before declaring he won't do much of anything about rightwing rulebreaking content, even going so far as to appoint Tucker Carlson's website as fact checkers. By driving people out as part of a witchhunt, they're drawing more attention to it's pro conservative activities and accelerating the staff and advertiser rebellion that will lead to actual cultural change at the company, and when that happens, that sure won't benefit conservatives as much as the status quo... Still, I'm sure a conservative con artist will be more than happy to set up a conservative alternative... Griftbook, perhaps.
No, 'The Left have gone too far!' is the mating call of the wingnut pretending to be a centrist. The kind of people who totally believed in equality, human rights, free healthcare and eduction until that one right winger was banned from twitter so now they're going to change all their views and move off to Gab and Parler where the right wing go to breathe their own farts.
A couple of days ago, #TWEXIT was trending on twitter on the UK, where a whole slew of right wing idiots were declaring they're totally going to go to Parler because Twitter banned a particularly odious british rightwinger. Days on, I went back to the hashtag and the vast majority of the people who were leaving right away are still there, tweeting away about how the left have gone too far and they're being censored and are leaving. I get the feeling I'll still be seeing them tweet in a month, in a year, about how the left have gone too far and they're leaving for real this time.
Thanks to Bill Barr, Trump is living his dream, being able to sue anyone who says anything mean about him without having to pay legal bills (Not that he did that before, mind) or risk having to appear in court himself.
Republicans shouldn't have gotten either chamber back after Bush, but it's amazing what the media bothsidesing issues and your backers being able to spend unlimited amounts of money can do for ones electability.
Unfortunately the moment republicans retake both chambers they're going to push horrendous changes as they've found something they can attack to win brownie points with the crazies in their base that probably won't cost them any goodwill from their donors. Google probably don't spend big money in the race for a Louisiana house seat in a district that represents one single 60 year old racist farmer and a tractor called Ayn.
The UK app is DOA because of the shady behavior of the government, the involvement of someone involved in the rampant data misuse during the Brexit referendum and their absolute refusal to disclose what the data they gather will be used for and to delete it once it's no longer needed for the purpose it was gathered for. The whole thing is a nightmare of their own creation, they had alternatives ready to go, but they decided to do their own thing and give jobs and money to the wider circle of sleaze.

At this point either party creating legislation is basically virtue signalling as nothing is getting passed. Good legislation, bad, it doesn't matter, unless one party has both houses, laws are being written by the supreme court turning the constitution into a rorsach test or by the executive decrees spouted by the mad king on twitter.
Ah you see, it may look like crime, like bullying and harassment, but they're wealthy and work in Silicon valley types so they're merely disrupting the rules of civil society as they're working on their app, Harassr, it's going to be the next big thing. They've already burned through $100 million of VC money without making a cent, and they value the company at $9 billion.
They'll stop using drones and return to tried and true methods, planting infiltrators in left wing groups they can use to instigate violence, sabotage popular community outreach programs to justify raids, you know like giving kids free breakfasts, and identify smart, capable people within the leadership they can murder to make the groups implode. Ask the black panthers, they can attest to how effective these tactics can be.
