"If Purolator were getting USPS drivers to deliver for 20% over their salary, charged to the customer... yes."
Actually no. The words owner-operator come into play. If a person owns or leases their own car their is no issue unless they are doing this during contracted hours. Drivers without exclusive contracts can do what they want.
The world seems to be in the process of being split into the two worlds. The Tech-Knows and the Tech-Wanna-be's, I feel sorry for the Tech-wanna-be's ...
"because he's learned of a top secret super scary "unusual source" that is trying to threaten the country"
"Does he mean the public?"
People talking, Social media, and government monitoring overreach are going into a feedback loop. That is what is actually going to threaten the nation. Basically its a TMI paranoia loop.
With pretty much every government we are seeing more and more regulation of every aspect of peoples lives. The huge issue with that is, you can't regulate speech or human nature.
How do you DRM or make something illegal that anyone can manufacture or modify? Arresting an 80 year old for making golf balls is not going to go over well.
Recorded music is just a promotion of the artist. That is all it has ever been and that is all it will ever be. Now that artists can promote themselves it kind of makes the labels superfluous.

There is no reason to struggle with this. You have often spoken about people being willing to pay for convenience. When all is said an done and the copyright industry implodes. Amazon will be the digital library you pay a monthly fee for so you do not have to search.
Amazon is selling convenience and a brand, nothing more.
Hey look a shiny thing ... its bright, its pointed at me, oh no!!! Its a viral internet blog post.
I think government should acknowledge anything can go viral. Treat all FOIA requests as if they were about to go viral and just do the right thing. But we have a culture of secrecy in government based on wrong doing and fear of exposure. So everything gets classified.
The phone is contract law where you agree to pay for calls made on your line. The other is Civil or Criminal law. In civil and criminal law you have to find the person responsible not just blame a random person.
So what you are saying is, if someone borrows a hammer from you and murders his wife with it, you are responsible for the murder. That just doesn't make sense.
