I saw it interestingly put another way: Imagine everything was reversed, and the Dems were (minority) House controllers and were absolutely determined to force through gun control against 'the elected will of the people' by using every dirty trick and blackmail opportunity having failed over 40 times using normal legislative means.
Even as a gun control advocate I'd see that as a pretty stupid, dick move.
As someone else pointed out, it's not about (actual) liberty or war or the overall economy. It's about insurance, only insurance! It's about actively denying people access to (affordable/any) healthcare, it's about stopping anything a particular president does, no matter what, and it's about ignoring the democratic structures that are held up so religiously by the tea party in their other holy babble, the Constitution.
I assure you, as someone who was once young and indestructible and is now getting older and less healthy, I am incredibly glad I have 'health insurance' in the form of taxes I've paid over the last 20 years. Everyone young will be old too one day, and they'll then be glad of any social safety nets.
Frankly, anyone whining about feeding the poor or depriving anyone of (free) healthcare doesn't know squat about history and how horrific things were in the past (even for the rich at times). Maybe if they don't want to play with modern social mores they should give up the other benefits of a modern technological society as well.
It's also informative to those of us 6.7 billion people who aren't in the United States and maybe don't obsess over every little detail, but are interested in a) how this affects us, and b) how the infinitely hypocritical NSA is doing.
Yes, I'm surprised that the UK hasn't realised this yet with the Miranda seizing. After all, if even passing through London can get you 'arrested' and your stuff seized, it's not going to be long before people start avoiding London as a transport hub.
Similarly yes, the US seems less and less attractive all the time to visit. I'm wondering if I'll ever bother again.
And Google only picked up those signals that the Wi-Fi had radiated to the whole world and anyone able to pick them up. If you have a fight in your front yard, don't complain that the neighbours are 'listening in' or 'eavesdropping'.

I dunno, I think that having the tobacco companies prove that tobacco wasn't harmful isn't a bad thing. Don't the Europeans insist the same thing with GMOs?
You missed out where those 'evil Street View cars' sucked up 'private' photons reflected off 'innocent' people and buildings that hadn't asked to be seen by a camera (in writing, in triplicate) despite radiating in public.
Yes, these are the same bus drivers that are recommended to (or too afraid to) stop near-fatal beatings - but they're happy to engage with a student with a 'weapon' of mass buzzing.

Wow, and I thought I had read all of the over-reactions to Obamacare.
Although I'm not a fan of over-large databases, especially of stuff like that, we manage to have large patient databases in Europe without this sort of institutionalised abuse by having robust and strongly enforced laws.
