and, i agree with you. wish I could have filed a sui against the bastards that helped spur the economy down the hole. But I digress.
Now in this specific case, I don't think the exec should be getting sued (The case seems to be on shaky legs regardless of who or what is actually getting sued), but all in all I agree with the above. CEO's shouldn't be allowed to escape a lawsuit with a nice big bonus and a "retirement".
See how that works? doesn't work too well, huh? Maybe instead of making retarded statements about something you obviously know nothing about, you can actually add to the conversation. But, alas, that would require working brain cells, i'm afraid. Maybe next time.
And then we enter the world of mainstream software where denying your customers is not only the norm, but they *seem* to expect it.
I am always saddened by people who look at free alternative to big name software and ask "What's wrong with it if it's free?"
And that is now the scariest thought i have had in a while.
Do you ever get the feeling maybe we took a wrong turn somewhere? This is a world where stupid politicians can bend over backward for everybody *but* their constituents (not sure how the UK gov works, so this really only applies to USA afaik). Yes, I definitely think we took a wrong turn somewhere. Probably about the time big business had the power to control the fate of other people's lives and even countries.
I have personally decided that I will not buy ANY music by an RIAA label. Period. I am going so far as to not even PIRATE an RIAA album. I buy/download (jamendo is free) only music that is creative commons or at the very least not on an RIAA label. It isn't easy, but there are a bunch of great bands out there with alot more talent than the hashed over BS that gets pushed by the big labels and RIAA.
(Of course RIAA music that I already bought was grandfathered in)
Bingo.
And if you have ever spec'd out a fully loaded blade system (just one chassis, mind you) then you will see that virtualization isn't hurting the big 'D'
Using the RIAA v Jamie Thomas (2nd trial) the going rate per infraction is $80,000. Bump that check up to $800,000,000. and the maximum is $150,000 per infraction ($1,500,000,000). I think maybe the Industry needs a nice bitchslap from the artists. I know the fans will help.
How screwed up this guy is.
Or better yet, how much money has "fallen" into his ip-loving lap. I find it funny that he can spout this nonsense, but if i ignore IP law, I get sued. I love this country so much.
At first I was like "Oh, hell, we can see where this is going", but once I read the whole way through, I have to agree with you. This sets back not just women's rights, but civilization as a whole back 70 years. Good job, America!
(little known fact: firefox seems to want to correct "women's" into "womenfolk's". Strange. Has anyone ever even heard the term "womenfolk's"?)

from different apps, I am assuming. Only amarok can access the iPod (maybe banshee) in Linux. Not exactly playing nice with others. For me, iPod/iTunes is useless because of the fact I use Linux. Thankfully, Jamendo is there to fill in the gaps. Though I wish more people liked the bands i do. the torrents need seeding :)
