What is really hilarious is that they don't see that these bills would kill jobs in the US and make more jobs overseas. If they pass a bill anything like these they were looking at then overseas VPN providers will have such a huge boom in business it will not even be funny. They will have lots of new jobs while America suffers.
That is the problem you always see, the paradox where people often only act if they think they can actually do something. People do not want to stand alone and fight by themselves and so they do not stand. The funny part is that if everyone who felt that way stood at once they would be a true force.
The problem is always building that initial momentum. I am hopeful these recent protests are the start of just that though.
And you better not be doing that research in a library. It needs to be a hard back book that you bought. On top of that you had better not even think about copying anything at all out of that book.
In fact what are you even doing reading anything, you are stealing their work storing it in your mind! Dirty thiefs!!
Because they probably had to do a bit more paperwork for to do it under current laws. They and the power to point their finger and kill the site instantly. They can do things like this currently but it is actually a little work at least.
Once again we get more evidence that it is not really about the money, it is all about control. The media companies don't care about the money, they have shown that time and time again with their actions. What they do care about it their control.
Re: Re: Re: Why not route traffic outside US juristiction?
Yes people can just point to DNS servers outside the US. Although this also causes problems because crooks will setup shady DNS servers and other such issues.
Maybe should be made clear these laws would threaten Craigslist. Then all those politicians would scatter. They are not going to do anything that might interfere with their ability to order hookers.
I guess someone there realized that trying to flat out lie about the cause of the protest is not going to work in this case. Too many people are going to actually read the note Wikipedia will put up.
Really what is sad is the fact that our government here in the US has a lot better things to worry about. I am willing to bet that if someone polled the nation asking what they thought was most important issue government should be looking at right now. Passing stricter copyright laws is not likely to make the list.
Yet for some reason our "representatives" seem to think it is imperative that they ram these bills down our throats. It is time for these people in charge to get their nose out of everyone's business and get back to actually running this country. You know, like maybe looking at how to get us the hell out of dept. I can tell you right now SOPA ain't gonna do that.
Oh come on now! Don't you see how this copyright is inspiring people to put out new works!
Oh wait, the guy who was producing those works has been dead for years.
So ummm, why does copyright last so long again? I sure don't see it motivating the "owners" to make anything new and the original content creator is not going to make anything new.
Now the supreme court will have to censor their own court room. I think they should also be fined for this indecency!
Of course just about every major public building is likely to have carvings or statues of nudity. Oh, and lets not forget all the indecency found in art museums.
I guess we could do like was done before, bring out the chisels to remove anything offensive and then cover it in a fig leaf.
A site like Google or Facebook joining a blackout would be ideal. At this point though we will take whatever we can get and make no mistake, these sites that are blacking several are very large. You add two or three large sites together with a lot of small sites all blacking out on the same day and it adds up to something that is approaching the effect of Google.
I really think it is about time for some of the mega companies like Google to just throw their full weight around. They need to just put out an announcement to all the governments stating that if they keep regulating things they do not understand then the internet will fail. As a demonstration Google could then fully shutdown every server they own for a day.
What is sad is that it has reached the point that most of the world hates the USA government. This includes the people living here in the USA. When I was little I was proud of what this country used to be. As I got older I realized that the country I used to be so proud of has been doing lately and it makes me sick.
I think I speak for a lot of people when I say. What the heck are you going on about?
I think I understand the point you are trying to make but it is not at all the same as what this guy was doing. First you talk of linking to personal bank info. Well banking info is a lot different than a tv show in a lot of ways and if you are too thick to understand that then there is little helping you.
As for illegal porn, well that depends on where you live on what that means. Some places any porn is illegal and so I doubt anyone really cares. If you are implying child porn as I assume you are then you really must be a moron. Hurting children for enjoyment is NOTHING AT ALL like watching a tv show online.
So your argument in the end is totally unrelatable to current topic and over the top stupid at best.

Can you imagine the money that would roll in from a pay-per-view event of those in charge of Hollywood all jumping into a volcano!

Of course I think they should add a troll rating system as well. Maybe like the star system just using trolls?
