That's the problem with his written diatribes... the idiocy isn't softened by a charming, rustic accent. We Yankees would marvel at the folksy wisdom of the Yellow Pages, read aloud to us by Jeff Foxworthy. Or Foghorn Leghorn.
If there had been drones 'way back then: Waco. If you're not too concerned with collateral death and destruction, and you've got a nutjob hermit holed up in a remote compound... drone 'em. Could easily have been substituted for the methods they actually used, and with equally horrible results.
Better yet, do what Flight Aware, Passur and others do for aviation: Delay the "live" info by ten minutes, so you can't use your USB bazooka launcher for unattended rail terrorism. Then publicize the fact that your data is ten minutes behind, and let riders do the math. Simple!
I once saw a barroom clock, traditionally set 20 minutes fast, with a hand-lettered sign taped to it: "This clock is 20 minutes fast." Brilliant.
Yes, I would feel badly if it turned out that his daughter had some affliction and needed care for the next 50 years. But wouldn't her care be better addressed by "...more cash & Gold in the bank than you can imagine"? If the "no unlock" thing was coming from the carriers, I could imagine the logic: This ain't "your" $700 phone until the 24-month subsidy (contract) runs out. But that's not the case.
But the idea of the FCC intervening in the name of competition and innovation? Are we talking about the same ol' FCC we know and love? Acts of largesse aren't exactly commonplace around that joint... wonder what the angle is...
I've always wondered about that "THIS IS NOT A PRECEDENT" box... seems like it's just wishful thinking. If, as a point of fact, a certain ruling was made, couldn't that be cited in a later argument, irrespective of the disclaimer?
- that your distributor bothered to promote your project
- that the weather that weekend is good
- that anyone is willing to shell out any amount of money to see your magnum opus
Why limit it to aerial? Let's add in "... the land-based creation of graven images, such as may be shown to purloin the divine soul of a Citizen of the Great State of New Hampshire."
If this was a reality show... and I guess it is... I'd head for the DVR menu and hit "Record Series". It's riveting!
I still think that the antagonist is a non-native-English speaker. Sounds perfect when I read the tweets aloud in any of several insulting, ethnic-stereotype cartoon accents...
Never thought of it that way... that every footnote ever written could be considered infringing. True, it would be a radically maximalist viewpoint, but hey, those folks file specious lawsuits every day of the week.
