The bill itself and the authors of the bill have always made clear that the intent of the bill was to incentivize censorship the state itself couldn't do. That is not a legal act.
And yet it's been upheld at every level, including the Supreme Court. Interesting.
The bill would require fact checkers to register with the government
I didn't think Republicans could still surprise me, but that did it. How does that come out of the mouth of someone who claims to favor liberty and small government? It boggles the mind.
"The more free (ie less socialist) a society, the lower its corruption levels."
He states that socialism is the opposite of freedom as though it's a universally understood truth. He seems to understand corruption in India as largely a function of the degree of socialism that has been introduced, and doesn't mention at all European democratic socialism, where corruption is much less prevalent. Maybe he has a different definition of "socialism" than I do.
Re: Re: IF so easily corrupted, then WERE by "Democrats"!
The solution moving forward would be to press a federal identification system for citizens and permanent residents. And require that ID to vote.
A solution in search of a problem. Voter fraud is a vanishingly rare issue, and the true motivation behind the Republican calls for voter ID is voter suppression.
The fact that Republicans are challenging something is meaningless. They will challenge anything if they think it will benefit them politically, whether the challenge has any basis in reality or not.
the issue of State level law and 230 regulations:exemptions gets settled Nationally.
"Settled" implies a controversy where none exists. Federal law supersedes state law, and section 230 explicitly prohibits conflicting state law. So there is nothing to be settled.
Re: Re: Re: If you can't win an honest game rig it until you do.
conservative means believing in very limited, small government.
Except for:
military spending
abortion
gay marriage
social media
deficit spending
police
the drug war
Did I miss anything? If those aren't conservative positions, then there haven't been any politically powerful conservatives in the US for a very long time.
Jordan Klepper: Have you read [the Constitution]? It's pretty short.
MAGA idiot: The Constitution of America?
JK: Yeah
MI: I have not read the whole thing, no. You've read the entire thing?
JK: Yes, it's remarkably short.
MI: All right. I doubt that, but it's OK.
so to get around a copyright - no all you need to do is make a public record /information request - and VIOLA - you get all the copyrighted info ever wanted.
Regardless of how a string instrument may be involved, no, that is not how it works. A public record request only applies to records that are legally required to be - wait for it - public.
if i ever get one of these - i'll be happy to point you to the publisher/ISBN number and/or a online store where YOU can purchase one of these manuals, manuscripts, textbooks, or whatever yourself
If that's an option then it's already public, and there's no need to make the request in the first place unless it's prohibitively expensive.
Did you read the article at all? Because you don't seem to understand the situation.
Ah, the old "say something that's wrong and then claim it was a joke" maneuver.
I find it perfectly plausible that was nothing more than hyperbole for humorous effect. It's also plausible it was an error, but I try to give the benefit of the doubt (admittedly I don't always hit the mark there).
