I've just given up watching movies. I was weighing renewing my Amazon Prime on Sat night because I don't anticipate ordering as much next year so I decided to see what was available in the free prime section. Right at the top was Transformers Dark side of the moon. On a lark I hit play.
The movie started immediately. No logo no warnings just the movie. I still haven't recovered from the shock. Now I have to reconsider the Prime membership.
I'm not a poet but I can't help but think of a poem about the day after Halloween and AC snug in his bed with visions of Mikey strawman dancing in his head.
So if artists feel like having to continually produce is running in place I have a suggestion that could fix this.
Allow everyone one copyright.
If you think something is your take it to the bank, buy a tropical island and become king of your own country idea then copyright it and you can watch the checks roll in. Guess wrong and OH Well, too bad. So sad.
In the mean time, you can do like the rest of the world and keep refining your craft and improving it and sharing it with others to build upon.
Re: Re: Sigh. Technical complaint by some idiot alleging "lost his" data".
I think that anyone who requests their data should be entitled to it. Although MPAA hates the the concept, there is still a presumption of innocent until proven guilty in the US.
"I expect that his tenure in both positions might end up in jeopardy."
You are correct but not for the reasons you list. His employers will distance themselves from him because of the blow-back. In a week when this is forgotten he will be able to go back to work someplace else, probably at a higher rate.

You have a talent for understatement. If Google got into all kinds of trouble for driving down the street and taking pictures, how can this be ok?
Unfortunately, I expect the stereotypical 16 year old hacker/anonymous persona will be used to justify this.

All they have to do is say the honestly believed they held the copyright, shrug their shoulders and say sorry it was just a mistake.
So I guess he really can sue them but it is pointless.
