Enlighten us with a better system, oh oracle. I'm all ears (or eyes). Except you will not.
We already got you are the master of all answers and omniscient holder of all truth but we are too dumb to understand even if you told us. Now shoo, shoo. Go away.
Yeah but the company failed. The next ship will be more careful I think. But you see, if that's the case then it's one more point to my comment: it will keep happening as long as there's no punishment.
It will keep happening. Over and over. Until there's actual punishment.
You see, stuff like Cambrige Analitica (the Facebook scandal) will probably not happen as often or at the very least everybody will be more careful because the backlash drove CA to bankruptcy. In a sense, it's a form of punishment. (Of course there were some law enforcement operations and so but generally speaking they didn't go belly up because a court told them to shut down and jailed their executives).
Unless we start punishing the companies that leak data heavily with jail time and all it will keep happening. Of course, considering the telcos are effectively obliterating any and all oversight we are actually walking in the opposite direction.
I think the solution is multi-layered including technical measures and general participation of authors and staff in the discussion. Big networks (ie: Facebook) can't possibly apply some of these measures in a general way. Maybe they could offer some overkill tools that simply remove anything remotely offensive or something for those who don't want to moderate actively letting the community do it's job but give the owners of pages and profiles more fine-tuned mechanisms that they could couple with your usual social engineering (ie: participating in the discussion). Which would make them closer to what TD is, a smaller, more manageable community.
I'm just throwing random thoughts, I wouldn't possibly know what to do as I don't even have any blog/site/community to manage lmao
Re: Well, it's the plain ordinary bullets of brute force censorship,
"And then fanboys (who may well be mostly astro-turfing) jump in and allege that they know exactly how Techdirt works and why I'm censored (it's the way I write, anything but censoring of my VIEWS), even though I've asked and get no official response."
I'm not sure what are the criteria for effectively blocking a comment here other than your regular spam justifications but the fact that you are able to post your drivel is clearly a sign that you are not being blocked or censored by TD staff or systems. However you are clearly being flagged by the community repeatedly. I could try to explain why it happens (you are an asshole) but let's just focus on the fact that you are being flagged but your comments remain there. I just flagged you by the way. Not sure if it's going to be hidden.
The system TD uses allow anonymous comments so there's no reliable way of blocking someone specifically. Considering you have never contributed in any meaningful way with any discussion and you are generally an asshole it's pretty amusing you are making such accusations. Oh well.
Re: "making sure that had control and limits" OTHERWISE NO INCOME!
I also expect to be able to buy stuff for reasonable prices. So when the industry either refuses to offer that content to me or charges extortion level prices I'll feel absolutely no remorse in getting what I want via other means. If we were talking about goods like cars I'd simply buy from the competition. But since copyright is a monopoly then I'll go piracy thank you. And if I can and it's worth I will throw money at the creator, not some shitty middleman.
Do you practice onanism thinking about Trump when you are all alone at home? Because you used a lot of bullshit straight out of Trump's play book not limited but with emphasis to the "whataboutism" in the end.
I wonder when you protest and this kind of behavior is used against you if your attitude will be the same. Remember, today it's your Supreme Cheeto there, tomorrow might be another Obamabogeyman from the Democrats wielding the same weapon against you. Do you want to go down that rabbit hole?
If we listened to the copyright morons every time we'd still be discussing if the [player piano](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Player_piano) should be allowed and how it would spawn the musical apocalypse.
Good articles (both this and the original). We should be reminding them every time how bad they are at every opportunity. And we should ask both politicians and the people "do we really want to live in an underdeveloped past forever or do we want to have a thriving music market where everybody has their opportunities to make money?" before bowing to the pressure of such morons.
I think many will agree with me that giving at least average coverage, stability, reliability and pricing would be a few worlds better than having 5G by 2020. Be a decent service provider before hyping new stuff you won't deliver properly anyway.
