Sorry, but I have been boycotting Sony for so long, that I have to ask "Who is Sony?"... These idiots are going to destroy what was once the preeminent technology company. Unfortunately, IMHO, Apple will be soon to follow them from inventors of the coolest stuff, to join them in butt-head oblivion... :-(
This just leads me back to the video posted recently of Couric and Gumbel back in 1994 babbling on TV about the internet. It was so obvious that they didn't get it then, one has to wonder if all the lawsuits, domain "confiscations" (call it what it is - theft by color of authority), DMCA take-down notices, and all the rest is because most of these people are still clueless about the internet. It has produced a paradigm of communication and community so new and vast that they simply cannot get their minds around the concepts that it produces. It has indeed turned the world into a village, even if our so-called leaders still don't understand that. In a village, what you do with your wife in private is known all over town before you even get out of the door...
The 7D and similar cameras today often have full-frame 35mm imagers and are capable of shooting HD 1080p video using any lens that will fit the camera, including ones with image stabilization capabilities. Honestly, to get a regular video camera of that quality, you'd pay thousands $$ more, most likely.
This reminds me of the early-mid 80's when HP in Cupertino use pigeons to send engineering drawings to a subsidiary over the mountains in Grass Valley, CA. There was no high-speed internet then, and even motorcycle couriers were less efficient (slower, and more expensive) than loading the pigeons with a microfilm copy of the drawings and sending them over the mountains... :-)
I think that we have reached a "tipping point" where the ability (or inability) to access the Internet / WWW is an inalienable human right, nay a necessity, and to cut off totally such connections invalidates the authority of the cutting entities. Egypt will sorely suffer from this bit of hubris, and it will be "interesting" (as in the Buddhist curse "May you live in interesting times") to see what all the ramifications of this action will be...
At a company I worked for as principal software engineer and architect for about 20 years, we investigated DRM tools (3rd party and in-house developed) to "protect" our enterprise manufacturing execution and cell control software from theft. We spent a considerable amount of resources (time and $$) to finally decide that it is better for us to not piss off our customers when a software glitch shuts down their factories at an "inconvenient" moment (for a semiconductor fab, that would cost about $10M USD / hour). We never had a problem with such theft, and we were accepted as the standard of the industry. When I left in 2005, we were one of the 60 largest application software companies in the world.
Perhaps a global short sms message from ISP's to all their customers every five minutes or so would eliminate using cell phones + sms messaging as triggers for bombs. It would be irritating for sure as your phone would beep every 5 minutes, 24 hours a day! But it would make us "safer"... :-)
Here's hoping the homeowners first file a criminal trespassing and burglary complaint against him, and then sue him for a bizillion bucks for his illegal suit and causing emotional and financial distress when he was "burglarizing" their home!
What a bunch of tight-asses Apple is... Just think, that if they just allocated 1/10 cent for each download to the prize, she would have received $10M instead of a measly $10K... :-) Anyway, I'm sure I would not have turned it (the $10K) down either!
The boneheads who are responsible for his safety and security should be arrested and tried for human and civil rights violations, and sent to live in the same conditions they are subjecting him to! This situation is reprehensible!
They just committed corporate suicide. What morons, not realizing that mobile broadband IS the new broadband! As the Weavers used to sing to close out their concerts, "Good Night, Irene!"...
It isn't so much the single scan dosage that is the problem (though it can be if the machine is miscalibrated), but the accumlative effects that start to impact on frequent fliers. See how many of TSA's top brass would accept going through one of these 2-4x per day for a year, which is what a flight attendent or pilot would do. I'll just bet you'd get a lot of interesting excuses why they can't/won't do that... :-(
I know that if I were to hack into my wife's email, my life would be very short and painful... But, after almost 37 years of marriage, if she wants/needs a bit of a fling to clear her tubes, who am I to gainsay that? It would only be a bit of quid pro quo in fact. In any case, sex does not define our relationship. Music, dance, friends, family, books, art and such are the things that do.
I think Adolph Hitler and Joseph Stalin would be smiling right about now. We have far exceeded what either of those two were trying to do in suppression of individual freedoms. And to think that Barack Obama is not fighting this tooth and nail makes me really angry - I supported him with significant time, $$, and in other ways to get him elected. Sorry B, but you won't be getting my vote in 2 years. Neither will the Republicans. I think I'm going to vote for "None of the Above".
To my mind, putting "back doors" in all internet communication channels is akin to requiring (and effectively the same as) that all news reporters provide full unexpurgated copies of their notes, contacts, and even musings. Talk about First Amendment violations! As was quoted elsewhere today, from Benjamin Franklin,
"Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote."
It's time we changed our leadership, and by that I don't mean Republican vs. Democrat, but all of those boneheads in office who are clueless as to the damage they are doing not just to the rest of us, but to their own progeny as well!
So, the next thing for DHS to do is block or confiscate all domains with "leak" in the name? Too bad if your business domain is noroofleaks.com. I guess then that the domain wikileeks.org would get through?
