Naw naw naw, this is the difference between capitalism and greed.
In capitalism, one goes out of their way to meet the customers' demand, making a REASONABLE profit the whole way thru.
Greed, on the other hand, leads one to do stupid things in order to drive up the prices, like crafting some artificial scarcity (for more on greed and artificial scarcity, see: OPEC).
The USTR (much like the Federal Reserve) is in no way run by the Federal Government. They're a group dedicated to representing special interests; usually to the detriment of the public at large.
Well, to point out parallels:
In the US Constitution the citizens are guaranteed the right to a speedy trial.
However, when they go to court the first thing they're required to waive prior to proceedings IS their right to a speedy trial.
Which is why you'll have people who've spent years in prison prior to their trial--literally "innocent" people being kept in prison for multiple years.
It's disgusting--reeks of the corruption in the system.
"Of course it hurts cloud computing business plans, because it adds a basic requirement of assuring that the services aren't being used as a file trading haven."
Yes, just like in the real world--where everybody who rents out anything from a storage unit to a condo to a house is required to guarantee the rented object isn't going to be used for anything nefarious. It's a good thing we can have psychics vett EVERYBODY because otherwise such a system would be not only preposterous, but impossible.
I've been daydreaming of emigrating from the US for awhile now--but I cannot legally leave.
Turns out, if your expensive college education doesn't net you a good enough job to pay for your expensive college loans--it actually becomes illegal for you to own or use a passport--how about that?
According to the laws as they stand, I'm not allowed to leave the country... what's the correct definition of a "wage slave"?
